I'm worried that our involvement in the FA cup and JPT is affecting us. If not, then it may during January with some really tough teams to play in the league.
What are the pros and cons? I know it's a good money spinner to be involved in these events. Also players (ie Hoban and Taylor) have benefited from playing these cup games as their confidence and play definitely has improved. MAPP has been respectful and also fielded very strong teams which shows our commitment to entertaining the fans and giving value for money.
What do people think? Would we be top of the league if we were not still in the cups?! I don't know. I'm just so desperate like all of us, to get promotion. It's obvious we won't keep at least 5 of our best players if we don't go up. Worried we are gonna have a good season all round but finish 4th and bow out in the play offs!!

Be positive As Oxford fans we all have these worries at times but I think success breeds success so hopefully we're Gonna win all 3 The League, the FA Cup and the JPT Keep clear of injuries, cut out sloppy defending and we'll be OK

No point worrying about it.
It's a nice headache to have and will only be adding to the morale and confidence of the squad.
If we don't get promoted, it won't be because we did well in cups, it'll be because we didn't win enough games. A winning mentality helps to bolster that so long may our good form over the half season continue.

1983/4. Won the league, played about 15 cup games across 3 competitions.
Cup runs are only an excuse for bad form, not the cause of bad form. Cup runs can build confidence, especially if you are taking the scalps of bigger clubs.

A quick count of cup games that season gives a total of 19. www.rageonline.co.uk/mainpage/season/25/

I think the league is a distraction if anything. I would rather see us finish mid-table but win the mighty JPT trophy. Imagine the open-top bus parade with the cup through the streets of Oxford. Millions would be lining the street to give the players a heroes' welcome. Roofe would get a multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Nike. COD would immediately get into the Irish Euro 2016 squad and we would be able to attract some top class players.

Better not comment just in case the darlings on twitter get all offended and sneery about the "forum" again!

Cups are great for the squad- if we hadn't had cup games we might not have tried our Buchel and would'nt have realised he's probably our number 1. It's a prefect opportunity for fringe players to shine, it's also a money spinner and a bit of fun too (another trip to Wembley would be ace).

I wouldn't give 2 hoots if we got knocked out in the JPT and as for the FA Cup, take the money from the Swansea game, go out gracefully and then lets get out of this crap league. People may not like to use it as an excuse but since all the cup games have come along our form has dipped. Luckier we have scraped a few 1 nil wins along the way.

If not then I refuse to put Hylton's lack of goals down to a ref, COD being out of form isn't down to bad refs, and Roofe stopping his goal scoring is not down to the refs. Id be happy to get 6 points out of the next 3 games and get the Swansea game out the way. Fans seem more worried about a one off game in a months time than the home game in 3 days time.

It's amazing when you look at twitter at the amount of fans who don't understand football. Some of ours are especially unique.

Well over the years getting knocked out of the cup in the early rounds has never helped us progress up the table, lets try something different for a change, get a winning mentality and keep it...

Exactly! I think we can agree that not doing well in the cups for the last 15 years hasn't exactly seen us taking the league by storm.

I think the opportunity the cup runs have given us to give 'non 1st team starters' a game has been a really positive factor. As a result we now have a more competitive squad.
Could be wrong but didn't Dinkley start at Sheffs Weds for his 1st game of the season, chance to get both keepers games etc.
As a fan it has been great, yes the league is the priority but I am really looking forward to the Swansea and Millwall games.

I must admit I'm really looking forward to the cup games now at first I wasn't bothered if we went out of the them only because of focusing on the league now we've managed to get into the 3rd round of the FA cup against a premier team outfit with a small chance of making a upset depending on what Swansea turn up if he are bang at it & the final 4 of the JPT against a good opposition in Millwall which is a tasty affair compared to Southend
If I had to focus on one it would be the Millwall game I do believe we have a great chance of getting to Wembley hopefully we can get a result at there place either win or draw which will put something on the second leg with us getting more numbers into the gates
