But its the league that matters, lets hope the team does not get distracted or jaded
Long way to go in the league yet

As long as it doesn't cause any injuries or additional suspensions then we'll be fine. In fact we look fresher, quicker off the mark when we've had a midweek game than when we don't.
I thought we looked off the pace at the start of the Braintree game, having a week off..

Can also help with league form every player will want to play in the big games so players will try that bit more to impress to make sure they are in the team when the big game comes round

Well it doesn't seem to have been a problem to date.
Indeed it is quite likely that the club will make what £150K to £200k plus through the cup runs. If anything you would hope that would enable DE to reduce the losses and also get a couple of quality new players in during January.
I reckon that MAPP is managing it all very well so far. Personally I reckon we could have done without the JPT especially being 2 legs. The JPT has however proved invaluable so far though as it has allowed a lot of the fringe players to get valuable game time (and more competitive game time than the Development games) .
I think that in reality MAPP will have to play the fringe players again in the Milwall games and see how they go. It would be good to go to Wembley, but the league and Swansea are the more important.

Apps has rotated the squad almost perfectly to cater for all these cup games. What a brilliant first part of the season we have had.
Apart from the enjoyment of smashing Brentford and Swindon, if our FA cup game v Swansea is televised then we'll have generated £300k+ from our cup runs. If part of that was reinvested in the team then what a position we'd be in!

I think we would have made more than suggested in the cups - unless we have to share JPT gate receipts?
We will have had near 20,000 fans through the turnstiles for the JPT games.... (I am stll hoping for a good first leg result and then 10K up for the home leg).
Factor in a couple FA Cup games (split cash) with hopefully 10K plus for the Swansea game - though this is split 3 ways.
2 BBC Final score appearances (was it 10K a go?), a Sky appearance for Millwall (20K) and with every chance of the home leg being on if we are in the tie.

We have had prize money in the FA Cup of £45K (there is a further £67.5K if we beat Swansea). Plus what £25K in TV money in the FA Cup (?) and prize money in the JPT (say £20K). I think that all Cup revenues are split (unless 2 legged). So for the JPT games the only one we may have made some money on would be the Swin*** game. Against Yeovil after VAT, expenses and a split between Oxford, Yeovil and the FA, I would suspect that we wouldn't have made much. The Millwall and Swansea games should generate some decent income as the Crowds should be good and there will be some TV money.

Ahhh - I didn't realise we needed to split revenues in the JPT.
True - prize money to consider as well.

The OM suggests that if we are chosen for a TV game for the Swansea game we will receive £144,000. That is an awful lot of money for a team in this Division.

I think we stand a chance of it being televised. If Rodgers gets reappointed, it might make it a bit more exciting for the neutral. However, the Swansea name doesn't have the same pull as Liverpool or even Villa.

Think someone mentioned that Bristol City made 750/800k last season in the JPT & final even if half that amount would make a massive difference

I still can't believe that we made 8 changes on Tuesday and the team still looked very strong for a League 2 outfit.
The more games, the more chances fringe players get. Mapp has shown that if a squad player excels, they have a good chance of forcing themselves into the team.
Competition is strong, without the cup games we wouldn't really know how good the backup players are.

Whenever someone says to me "don't care about cup runs the league is all important", I tell them to look up the 1983/4 fixture list. More cup matches that season than we have had for the last few seasons combined. Didn't stop us walking the league, in fact you could argue that Milk Cup run was the making of our club.
