So they're just trying to use a tactic to get the rent reduced again then? The longer it goes on, the more I think this is the case and it's just a repeat of their smoke and mirrors. Funny that BBC Oxford reported this morning that a longer term option for them in London might be Millwall's new ground. Is it time we got a restraining order against Millwall - they've become obsessed! We should do it after LW take up residence at the New Den though.

Jerome Sale's post on BBC Oxford seems to suggest that they will make a decision about leaving the Kassam by the end of this week.

I'm hearing they're def leaving the Kastad This would be amazing if true. Can't see why they would want to stay here either, it hasn't really worked out for them.

Their stay has been pretty much a disaster. It looks like all Oxford based people have been made redundant, so hopefully it leads to the place that grb is hearing. It really does make a case that Oxfordshire just really isn't in to rugby.
Hopefully it is ding dong, the taffs have gone at the end of the week!

IF they do leave, is there a question mark over the type of pitch we are installing?
This is in no way a slight against the Club as they needed to plan for dual use, but I was under the impression that the pitch was designed for both sports using it.
I've no doubt that it will still be an excellent surface but have we perhaps paid more for a use of the pitch which no longer is relevant?
Again, that's IF they're leaving (fingers crossed!)

I would hope that the new pitch minus the egg chasers would equal an even better playing surface all season and that the whole thing would last years longer. We don't even know who has paid for this as yet do we? I seem to remember Ashton referencing an external funder who didn't want to be named.

Oh and the secret benefactor was me. You can all thank me later - perhaps buy me a pint or two when the season starts.

Not that much bet they only pay between 200/300k per year. They only use 1 stand for most games, less match than us and got a big reduction last year

If they do leave then there is the possibility that we could train on it occasionally without spoiling the surface.

If they do leave then there is the possibility that we could train on it occasionally without spoiling the surface. Perhaps the ladies team, the U18s and youth teams could play their home games at Kassam. The U18s or youth team were well messed about last year with postponements on other grounds. There is a big fuss made of the ladies team being an integral part of the new OUFC set up, but then they don't play home games at Kassam.

No knowledge on this, but presumably our rent would go up if we played youth of women's matches at the Kassam?

Having the pitch done now also circumvents Fizza getting another egg chasing team to be a tenant and the pitch going to crap once they play on it.

Training on the pitch. That should help on a match day if the players train day in day out on the new surface.

We can? Bagsy being a striker. Maybe you will....on Open day if there is one and the pitch is finished. Played on the Manor pitch at an Open Day in 1996 as a youth. I kicked Stuart Massey in the shin and Darren Purse picked me up by my ankles. I didn't get onto a United pitch again until after the Semi Final victory in 2010. Truly, a wasted career.

We are obviously of a different generation. My first time on the Manor was in 1963 when I was part of the human shroud that covered the pitch after our famous thrashing of Blackburn. Oh happy days.

Played in the 5 or 6 side competition they had at the Manor on the pitch. Think it was the final season there but could be wrong. Also, reffed a few kid's cup finals back in late 80's/early 90s. Hopefully, the egg chasers are off and if we do train on it then at most only, once a week. This so the 1st team doesn't become seen as separated from the rest of the playing side (Development squad, Youth team, Academy sides).

If things go in a certain direction, eg Water Eaton - Then the pitch would make a lovely village green, would it not?

I believe we signed Purse in the summer of 96 ahead of the Open Day that summer. I wrote about it for the school paper with the headline "Oxford's Wallet for Orient's Purse" - I was very proud of that as a 12 year old hack!

I stand corrected!
As for playing at the ground, they unfortunately don't get enough fans through the turnstiles to warrant paying for them to play at the ground. The majority of womens teams don't play at their 'home' grounds except for very occasional games.

So we should hear today as to whether London Welsh will be playing at the Kassam next season. And I am beginning to wonder if they actually will. They played a blinder with Witney Council and Firoka last year, are they about to do it again with Fiorka and OUFC this season? After all, what have they contributed to this new pitch???
