Just read on Facebook that Andrew (Nappy) Knapton died 14 years ago -today. Is it really that long ago? A top Man.

Didn't he pass the close season we let The Manor? Don't think he ever saw The Kassam.
London Road Terrace Legend.

I thought the family laid flowers and scarfs in the net at the London rd end before a game. Unless that's my memory totally screwing me up, might have been for martin Aldridge thinking about it.

Didn't really know him that well... But always stood in the same place in the Left-Side of the London Road Stand (above and behind the left half of the goal) Had a good booming voice... shouting... Give us an O-OO-OO... etc. Could use his "presence", today, in the East Stand... 'Remember putting in a few quid to help raise the money for his 'trophy', too - a real character... top bloke!

London Road Terrace Legend. Can't say that's all that terrible in hindsight.

Think his ashes we either buried or spread at the ground
Sadly missed by many

One of the real characters that stood out when I started going to games in the early 90's. I remember being really shocked and sad when I heard the news that he'd passed away.
14 years ago! Where does the time go!?

He was my London road terrace leader when i was just a boy learning the songs. I remember him being a thick set lad, pony tail, slicked back, always bantering, massive voice....Will never forget him, and I hardly knew the lad...

Remember him leading the "Give us an O-ooooo" chant away somewhere (Port Vale I think) and his voice cracked on the "D". Cue mixture of people either finishing off the chant or dissolving into laughter....brill memory.

I thought it was perfect that we had scored just before the tribute. Really meant it was passionately observed - brilliant stuff.
Wonder if any of his family was in attendance.

At every game this season, on 50 minutes should we do .. Give us an O etc. Next season do it on 51 minutes, following season on 52 minutes etc. Build a tradition.
