A decent ish day today. Cook and Trott got out again early. Taylor bowled well, but both players have failing in their games that still have not been addressed. Stokes bowled well today, but had no luck whatsoever. Got up to 90 mph at one point.

Nice to see Ballance looked assured again by close of play.

Hmmm, decisions... Do I drag Mrs Merritt to another day at the test tomorrow, or follow it from the complimentary poolside bar instead... Tough life

I'd stay at the bar. Then go to day 5 to see an England win...

Stokes bowled well today, but had no luck whatsoever. Got up to 90 mph at one point. Keep your foot behind the line is not about luck. It's poor from the bowler. A shame as he deserved more from his spell. Glad to see he's got the rhythm back in his bowling. Thought Broad bowled with good aggression and a worthy mention for Tredwell. He bowled Beautifully. Changed his pace well. Anyone who can out think Chanderpaul when he's set is doing well! Trott got a very good ball. Swinging pitched up and at pace. That would have got alot of openers out.

I have never quite understood why bowlers don't aim to land their foot six inches further back behind the line. Surely it wouldn't make THAT much difference to the length/speed/swing of the ball, and would cut out both wasted runs and incidents like this (as well as free hits in short form games).

Agreed, but you don't need fielders shelling easy catches either. Stokes looks far and away a better player than he was a year ago. Trott's problem is he is in motion so much, that he gets done when the ball swings. Bell played Taylor far better as he's a lot stiller at the crease. Can't have that movement when he's opening with Cook whose knee doesn't always bend when he goes forward and teams no longer give him the short ball to feast on. The concern with the openers is we'll just have the same issue now in the summer against a far better bowling attack. We can't rely on Bell and Root to keep digging England out.

The weather here is odd, just had an absolute torrential downpour go through, although now dry and hot again but a bit cloudy. Same thing has happened every morning - think it is spicing up the wicket a touch first thing every day, each day has started with a clatter of wickets. Guess it will be hard work for a while until the Sun burns the cloud away. The breeze coming across the ground left to right when looking from the Curtly Ambrose end is quite strong as well.

Apparently the rain is called the mornings blessing in Antigua. The wind has seemed pretty strong all game. The catering tents are constantly on the verge of taking off.

The wind doesnt help when you are watching from square of the wicket, it is bloody baking! Will be booking my tickets to day 5 shortly. £8ish for a seat elevated behind the bowler's arm, bargain!!

How much more at home does Ballance look in test cricket than ODIs? 4 hundreds in his first 9 tests, not a bad start to a (hopefully long) test career!

Jimmy becomes our leading wicket taker in test cricket!
Sadly looks like they're going to cling on for the draw unless someone can produce a bit of magic. Holder has been resolutely brilliant.

Rain stops start and that phrase could be this test match in a nutshell. Looks like one change for England. Ali in for Tredwell who has a slight injury. Rumours Rashid may come in.

usual brilliant setup of a batsman by Jimmy for the 1st wicket. Series of away swingers to get him tentatively prodding at the ball then unleash the inswinger and clean up the timbers!

Be nice to see Roach & Narine in the same test team. Hoping Narine & Bishoo can do the business.

tempted to lump on an Aussie 5-0 whitewash after watching that shower. That looks like a very good bet to me. Not good enough to challenge the Aussies in either the bowling or batting departments. To lose to a fairly poor WI team (and some of their better players are at the IPL!) is pretty poor. That's the last we have seen of Trott I suspect. And surely we must have a better quick bowler than Jordan?
