Thought I'd give Matt's email below it's own thread! Hope to see lots of members on Saturday at the OxVox AGM! COYY's! A reminder email has just gone round to OxVox members about the AGM. The website is down, and I doubt we'll be able to get it up again before Saturday. We start at 1.30pm ahead of the Plymouth game, this Saturday (14th), in the Landmark Room at the Stadium (the same room as we normally use). There'll be some signs up to direct you from the bar. As a formal Trust meeting it will be members only, but anyone whose membership has lapsed and needs to renew, or anyone who wants to join, can do so on the door. As in previous years, once we've got through the official business, that part of the meeting will close and there'll be an informal discussion when members can raise issues, make suggestions, or ask questions. I see there has been some discussion about the Premiership B teams proposals - that's absolutely the sort of thing for discusson. It's the members' opportunity to discuss the year ahead for OxVox and guide the Committee. Hope to see a good number of members there on Saturday. Cheers, Matt Read more: yellowsforum.co.uk/thread/20542/oxvox-agm?page=1&scrollTo=486745#ixzz3UA7kejjV

Post Agm business, as well as the B team 'issue' , if time permits could the subject of waiting time for refreshments especially while the match is ongoing be discussed. It's all so well and good inviting potential new fans via freebies, however IF the catering company don't adequately , err, cater for the additional numbers with extra &efficient people manning the catering outlets, any goodwill attained by the free tickets given out will be counterbalanced by atrociously slow service...equally, if not even more important, st holders and regular paying supporters , who's area of choice is being invaded by freebies, who opt to buy refreshments at half time are not getting good service or any enhancement of their match day experience if they're still waiting to be served after the 2nd half has kicked off.
OUFC admin should talk to stadco/the caterers and ensure that there are enough trained staff on the catering stalls in all areas of the ground on match days..... Has anybody told the caterers that OUFC, with the freebies are, (apparently), getting crowds of 5-6k + , and pointed out that Oxford United are NOT LW (with their crowds of 1k if they're lucky)?
It's another area that needs addressing IMO , where the match day experience is lacking....this one could be relatively easily rectified, assuming 'our' people talk to stadco and or the caterers, I'd've thought?..... Question is, why has it been allowed to reach a point where the situation is ridiculous? ...if you give away extra tickets, it makes sense to let the caterers know there will be a lot more people requiring refreshments, ....or didnt the fax machine work?

I've just found a few member emails in my spam filter so apologies if I haven't replied to you about any AGM questions. It seems to have been much worse over the last couple of weeks. If you PM me on this forum I will try and check tomorrow morning ahead of the AGM.
Apologies,
Matt

Precisely, last Tuesday against Morecombe, the game was pants so I went to get a coffee and thought I would go 5 minutes early, well there must of been a 100+ plus in the queue already, so with the miserable 1st half and the prospect of that not improving, no refreshments so I went back to the Blackbird totally p*ssed off, a wasted evening.

It has never been good (the catering).... With extra people there on freebies increasing the crowd, you'd like to think the powers that be at OUFC would inform the caterers either direct, or via stadco...hopefully Oxvox will persue the issue

Just to round this thread off:
I'll be preparing notes of the AGM in due course, and circulating these to members with the rest of the AGM paperwork. However, there've been a few questions about what the upshot of the Committee elections were.
Each year, a third of the Committee has to resign, with the option to stand for re-election. This year it fell to myself, Simon Bradbury, and Gavin Hill to do this.
With earlier resignations from the Committee earlier in the year, this meant there were six vacancies.
We received four nominations for new Committee members, those being Maurice Earp, Myles Francis, Jeremy Faulkner, and Terry Winter. They were therefore duly appointed to the Committee without the need for an election.
Myself, Simon Bradbury, and Gavin Hill therefore leave the Committee. In addition, Mark Sennett made his resignation from the Committee.
The Committee therefore now consists of: Graham Butler, Matt Cavill, Maurice Earp, Myles Francis, Jeremy Faulkner, Michael North, and Terry Winter.
There have been a few questions about the new Chair and other officers. Each year, when the new Committee meets, they consider who should fill the different officer roles. If more than one person is put forward, a vote is held to decide the matter. Jeremy Faulkner has offered himself as a potential Chair, and, unless anyone else on the Committee decides to put themselves forward, he will be appointed Chair at the next Committee meeting. However, until that Committee meeting, the matter isn't decided.
Essentially the new Committee is in the process of sorting itself out and that might take a couple of weeks while it decides how to work together.
Hope that answers some of the questions.
Cheers,
Matt (outgoing Secretary)
