I see that Gerald Kelley has now departed and gone to WW, bit of a demotion I think. DE & MA have acted quickly and installed two very experienced personnel to work on improving the whole of the match day experience. Not only have we seen a vast improvement in entertaining football, we will I'm sure see this transfer to the pre match and halftime offerings. i would like to welcome both Kevin and Georgina and wish all the best in their new roles and I'm sure they will listen to what the supporters have to say at the forthcoming FF. maybe they can have an influence on the prices of the drinks in the stadium. mobile.oufc.co.uk/news/article/00190914-staff-changes-1928906.aspx

It's actually a promotion for Gerald to be running a youth and community trust. He's been a good asset for Oxford and will be missed best example of his work was the big match last season and military day that went down very well with fans. He's also helped get plenty of grants and commercial schemes for the trust including the bicester tie up.
Had the chance to meet kevin yesterday and I've already met Georgina a fair few times. They know what fans souls like to see and are keen to work with us on this. I also spoke to Michael Doyle yesterday about bar prices and we will all be discussing this ASAP.
Wish kevin and Georgina the best of luck in their new roles they are both enthusiastic and look forward to working with them.

Sorry but anyone moving from the mighty yellows to Wycombe is without doubt a demotion.

When you say us, do you mean Oxvox or Yellow Army? Has Joe met with the new team yet?

At least the music should improved now. An inspiring DJ was not one of Gerald's main attributes.

At least the music should improved now. An inspiring DJ was not one of Gerald's main attributes. That will bring the fans back, won't it? So many people stopped attending home games because of the poor selection of pre-match music.

Personally, I don't think it would hurt to change the music periodically. I dare say there are many that like what is on offer but, just as many that do not. It is very clear that a lot more needs to be done to bring fans back to being supporters again. Anything which helps should be embraced.

Just more divisiveness. To fill in the gaps, Ricky, when what remained of the 12th Man Group resigned from working alongside other fans - OxVox, Yellow Army - to raise money for the club, it fell to Gerald (from memory) to explain that that resignation (which certainly was not asked for by anyone else) meant that the club would continue to work alongside the fans groups who DID (and do) want to work together. And that, therefore, the remaining 12th Man people would have to muck in alongside the others if they wanted to raise money inside the stadium confines (several have since done so). I say 'what remained of the 12th Man Group' because the majority of the people on OxVox committee and the Yellow Army had themselves been fundraisers for 12th Man. Indeed, again from memory, the group was effectively founded by the current OxVox vice-chair Simon Bradbury. Anyhow, what Gerald did was certainly logical, and last season comfortably more was raised than had been the previous season. Let's hope that the fundraising effort continues to grow (I've seen some very exciting ideas from Yellow Army people recently which will be presented to Mark Ashton shortly) and ALL fans who want to raise money can just get on with working together, rather than worrying about having their own groups. The point about the Yellow Army is that it is for EVERYONE who wants to help the club. Indeed, it has been gratifying to see new, often younger people come forward to help Joe Nicholls and co in recent months. Anyhow, back to topic, good luck and God speed to Gerald in his new role. He's a great guy, not a bad footballer and - as someone has pointed out - put a lot of effort into various initiatives. Welcome to the new crew, whom - I'm sure - will bring their own experiences and new ideas to benefit the club.

The 12th Man group was effectively founded by 3 or 4 of the Oxvox committee in Summer 2009 when Trevor Lambert was chair. We had an idea which Kelvin Thomas really identified with and. I was sad to see the group fade away last season. We raised a lot of money especially in the early days. It was the only supporter fund raising group in the desperate days of the conference. Back in the day the 12th man was for EVERYONE as well Mr Methven. I'm not being churlish or bad mouthing you - just wanted to put the record straight.

It was definitely 2009 that 12th Man was born.
It was five years ago next week that I drove up to windswept Barrow and helped sell badges or wristbands on that terrible away end.
Barrow was like the end of the world!

But isn't the marketing team's main responsibility at any club to market games and try to increase attendances? I for one haven't seen paper adds, radio adds, offers, etc

Ensco are introducing much higher quality both on and off the pitch. A bigger role at a much small club is not a step up.

On the reasonable assumption that you cannot see into the future, surely your comments should be more guarded, at least at this early stage? How do you know "the replacement will prove to be more effective"? You don't. You hope that will be the case, but you have no idea how successful he will be. Better quality on the pitch is beyond doubt, but these new appointments in the back office need to prove themselves.

Ensco are introducing much higher quality both on and off the pitch. A bigger role at a much small club is not a step up. Yes I have looked at them and here are the facts - in relation to the subject matter you raised, Gerald Kelly departing. Gerald Kelly was appointed Marketing Manager in July 2013. His crime therefore was to see the average attendance fall by 38 people. 2013-14 average attendance 4352. 2012-13 average attendance 4390. Pull him over the coals for the inability to have a team who could win a football match. As for losses being laid at his door, OK. Pleased you're so keen on the loss situation once again, let's pick that up in 12 months time. The matchday experience was better than the year before he started, The Big Match somehow managed to attract a crowd and some significant pre-match entertainment - the 12th Man Bar which he had input too provided a place where fans started to come back too, not quite the big failure your opening post alluded too. Plenty of 'homey' signage about the place, both downstairs and upstairs. Helping IL to re-connect to disgruntled lounge holders. FWIW, I think Georgina has the perfect set of skills to develop the matchday experience having been aware of her past experiences and she has been around the club since the start. Let's hope no more staff depart any time soon. We all know you don't like Ian Lenagan and anyone who worked for him or with him but your opening post is frankly, embarrassing. You keep trying to be divisive whilst others look to build relationships for the good of the club.

njones' posts seem to be particularly positive about the new owners and damning about anything before that.
There are people on here sometimes with 'an agenda'.
At least the majority on here can take a more balanced view most of the time.

Without getting embroiled in any mudslinging, was it not Roley who suggested the idea of the 12th man and Simon (BB) took the idea on board and saw it through. I refer my honourable friend to my earlier email. Tim your post is accurate. The initial phone conversation with Kelvin was for a 'James Constable Fund' before you suggested a far better and more inclusive name at a February 09 committee meeting, citing Everton if I recall. Then yes 2/3 people drive it forward and presented it to KT and it was launched. (As for Londonroader, he is actually correct. It was Roley who approached me/the committee with the orignial idea. We just developed it and built on it). What's the point of this back-slapping trip down memory lane? It was a fund for everyone and in the very early years (first 24 months) made a lot of money from all the good people who sold/bought items, came up with ideas and saw them through (the badges being a Mr 5Co and JG/TL idea) and we raised far more than most of the committee ever imagined it would - how we laughed when the fund had £10k in it after only 6-8 weeks. Don't forget it still contributed (the fund and those who supported it by purchasing items) to the club winning its place back in the football league - if not for the signings, but for the whole fanbase coming together - lessons which should be looked at again. Time moves on, people got too precious over it - club and individuals - and started to believe their own hype and egos. I was glad to help and pass it on. A shame that it was shut down on the back of a few people who frankly, didn't have the right to make such decisions and that the last bit of money in the pot - £15,000 - was handed over this season without even a mention. Fans deserved better than that. The fund is dead. Move on.
