Genuinely the worst footballing side I've seen in years. Usually they're ok - cheating bastards - but not too bad football-wise.
Maybe if they stopped with all the embarrassing antics they might have concentrated on football and actually troubled us today. As it was they were absolute dog sh*te.
Not despondent with a point but Accrington gave us more problems with ten men the other night!!

Agreed.
Westley may have to change his AIMITA mantra as that squad will show him that the second A is pretty important after all. They had the first A in spades though to be fair.

Some of their fans couldn't answer when they were asked how they could pay to watch that shite week in week out.

Love how Westley made gestures for his team to hurry up. Sarcastic idiot.

To be fair, I found some of our booing of them a little cringe. They were time-wasting a bit yes, but no more than any other clubs that come here.

I bumped into a few Stevenage fans last night in the Turf Tavern after the game and I asked them what they thought of the game, they replied 'it was a poor match, played by two poor teams that will both struggle this year'. I was a little taken back by this and said the general feeling at Oxford was we played very well and should have won.
Also, did anyone else hear what Selfie (is that his name?) on BBC Oxford sport said after the game? He said something like 'I was chatting to my Stevenage counterpart and he said the general report on Oxford in the footballing world is that they play pretty football, but have no threat'

That last sentence sums us up to a tee. Despite scoring 6 goals in our last 2 home games before yesterday, "no threat" sums us up to a tee? Work that out...

That last sentence sums us up to a tee. Despite scoring 6 goals in our last 2 home games before yesterday, "no threat" sums us up to a tee? Work that out... Stats are easily manipulated. How many goals to minutes of possession? Or How many goals per game? (Especially if we exclude 3 debatable penalties) Perhaps though no threat would better read as no cutting edge relative to the rest of our play?

Appleton should have made some substitutions on the hour mark to try and change things. Leaving it until 81 minutes to bring Junior Brown on was too late.
At least a pair of fresh legs might have made a difference, particularly as stevenage had used all of their subs.

Or How many goals per game? (Especially if we exclude 3 debatable penalties) Perhaps though no threat would better read as no cutting edge relative to the rest of our play? Scoring goals isn't a stat in this case though is it? It's the defining measurement of threat in football. To say we offer "no threat" is factually nonsense when you look at the amount of goals we have scored. And to discount penalties make no sense at all. Can we also forget about the really good goals scored against us? And the defensive errors? The other issues you raise is a different matter.

Point being you chose two games.
In the other 7 games we scored 3 goals. 2 of which were penalties. My point about penalties is that I remember playing games for my Sunday side where we didn't threaten all match but managed to get the ball into their box a couple of times and got an iffy penalty.
My point is a. Our penalties could be debated b. none of them came after we were denied an almost certain goal
I take your point about its not creditable to pick and choose goals but I understand the point made above about why we may be perceived as lacking threat.
I've popped onto the accy and Stevenage forums in the last week and was rather surprised , having read match reports here, to read how unimpressed the opposition fans were with us

I makes sense to play down your opponents, especially after you haven't won. If you win you say 'they're a decent team, and they'll do well this year'; lose and it's 'they were poor... if we can't beat this lot we're in trouble'.

It's no wonder the Stevenage away support is so shite. Bad enough to watch that horrible football at home, never mind going away to endure more of it.
