8-8 with a crowd of 33. 4 of those will be ejected due to over zealous policing following an incident of ballooning

6907 Oxford 1 pompey 2 Oxford manager bemoans naive oxford defending and poor refereeing. Oxford mail reports on an encouraging oxford performance with oxford playing some nice football and the players clearly more at ease with a system befitting of a top 8 championship team Oxford continue to be bottom of the league.

Little to enthuse you chaps, but on Tue night Pompey were already looking like Champions Elect...lightning quick up front and clinical with their finishing. Thought we played pretty well...Pompey simply a class above!

I am sure they will be champions with Southend and Plymouth in the mix. Think a Oxford and Northampton will be off the chasing pack

I think we'll lose unfortunately maybe 0-1 or 1-2 but hopefully Mapp pulls something out of the bag against his old club, just a question can you catch a bus from Kidlington that takes you straight to the stadium or nearby? A friend is hoping to come and wanted to know, anyone?

A friend of mine has a season ticket and catches the bus direct from Kidlington to the ground, usually arrives at 235

Not predicting the score.
I'll predict the gate though - circa 6617.

Are you ahead of us time wise?
Coz I reckon the nightmare on here will begin during the game if we go one down

Not predicting the score. I'll predict the gate though - circa 6617. I'm not predicting the score, either. If Portsmouth come to play football, and think they can waltz through us (as Bristol City did) then that will leave space in behind, which is what we currently need. In those circumstances anything could happen, including a home victory. If, on the other hand, they have done their homework and turn up to kick us up in the air AND attack us with fast, physical play then I'm struggling to see us flourishing. I fear the attendance will be a disaster: Portsmouth to sell out their allocation of 2300, and 'only' 4000 Oxford fans, making a gate of 6300 and a very strange feeling around the place, as our stadium is 'taken over' as we used to do when we were in the Conference. As a side note, if I'm right - I hope I'm not, and we get at least 5000 up there wearing yellow - then look out for the Dagenham attendance. Could be not much more than 4000. Unless, of course, we turn up the style tomorrow, beat Pompey and start a bandwagon rolling. Fingers (somewhat nervously) crossed.

But the point you make about an open game going either way is right. If pompey come at us it will open up the space behind them and then it will come down to who takes their chances, who wants it the most, or who has the luck. Just hope it's us for once!!

I thought I was quite optimistic on scoreline!! I genuinely think that it's possible the game may be set up to suit us. As Morecambe and Bristol City were. On attendance, I am more realistic than pessimistic. I know that we had sold only about 3400 earlier today, so getting another 600 or 700 walk-up sale would be a decent result. The reality is that our core home attendance has declined from 6500 in our first season 'back' to 5700 to 5200 to, now, and I'm afraid disastrously, more like 4500. Recognising this as an issue is not pessimistic; it's just recognising and dealing with the facts of life.
