I don't have a huge distance to travel but have found myself having to travel on my own as others have drifted away. I've still not got my ST but recent events have made me more positive and a very impressive 60 mins against Didcot for what was really a youth side has certainly pushed me more towards getting my ST renewed. I know we've on paper not improved our squad but on last seasons performances of Rigg, Smalley etc I would say Collins plus the youth couldn't do any worse. Plus we have a manager who wants to play football. If you can I would encourage you to get to one of the pre season games and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how different our team looks even if vastly the same players. I think it's asking a bit much for people to be enthused by narrow victories against Calor Southern opposition! Or even Conference South opposition. The reality is that we have lost six senior players, and they need to be replaced by improvements. That will then constitute a better side. Thus far: Constable/ Hylton: jury out, but Beano was very poor the second half of last season Scott Davies/ Collins: surely an improvement Ryan Williams Sean Rigg Deane Smalley Hall/Wroe So, to improve on our squad last season we need to improve on those remaining 4 players. These 4 players constitute the increase in budget that I believe Darryl Eales talked about when he came in. The problem is that those are expensive positions, and I suspect that Mapp is finding that it's hard to stretch his budget to bring in 30/40 goals. If he's offering 60/70 k a player a lot of agents will be trying to get more elsewhere. It may be that we have to wait to see what is left, with a week to go before the start of the season, and bring in our last couple of players then. U could say from what I've seen so far though that ashby and roberts (both not yet the finished article) r improvements on smalley and wroe.

I get where you'd coming from but I would say O'Dowda and Roberts or even Marsh could be replacements for Rigg & Smalley if we compare their season performance from last year and perhaps Ashby or Meades could be Hall/Wroes replacement? Is like to see a couple of players come in, mainly a winger and an out and out CF but wouldn't worry too much if that was all we brought in.

I would agree, Ashby for 18 years old looks outstanding and as good as some of the senior players who have occupied central midfield. Roberts has that 'eye for goal' and bags of confidence, something missing from that area of the pitch in recent seasons. I think both will come on leaps and bounds this season.

Don't forget Connelly aswell, I would of thought with the players we let go in the summer (but not actually knowing as such) the budget went just under £1M then we've signed Hylton & recently Collins (heard our budget was between £1.3M/£1.4m last season) so you would think there's till enough good funds to find at least 2 good strikers + another central midfielder & a winger to get back £1.3/4M before the 250k even comes into it (I don't know any of this figures for fact before anyone shots me down)

They will I would put Roberts ahead of Tyrone though, BBut we still need at least 3 decent signings to help the youth.

It is clear you have an agenda. Anything that happens to this club under current stewardship you will criticise. It's basically trolling. Collins an average player eh? And nothing positive about the new off-field structure that we have desperately needed in recent years? Where is the ignore button? Not possible to have a different take on things to others then without having an agenda? if you bothered to read properly it was obvious that i was referring to average players compared to kitson, you may not agree and that is allowed you know. I travel a fair distance for home games, spending alot of money with 2 other family members. i stated towards the end of last season that it was getting harder to motivate myself to keep going to watch dull negative football when as a family man the leisure pound has to be spent wisely. if i am to part with the thick end of £800 then i was hoping for some positive improvements on the pitch and as yet i have not seen or heard anything that makes that look likely as things stand...The new appointments off the pitch are positive moves but you still need enough decent players for them to coach to be able to compete. I'm sorry if my blind loyalty has to take a backward step and i'm not throwing more money at it just yet but this time the product needs selling to me and as i've said earlier a product with missing parts is not an attractive one. So no agenda, no hatred of the new owners or any such nonsense, just a concerned fan looking for a tad value for his expenditure. But it's not a different opinion is it. I haven't made up my mind unlike you. I have not decided whether Hylton and Collins are superb, average or awful. Yet you, to suit your own agenda, have decided they are average signings when nobody really knows yet what the future holds for them. I don't care how far you travel and how much you spend. Go to every game or none next season, that is up to you. My issue is with you pretty flatly refusing to post anything positive about anything happening at the club under it's new owner ship yet constantlytwisting events to suit your own made up mind that the new lot are bad news. By all means express valid concerns, I too have great concerns. But why not pose questions rather than express pessimism?

Some people like to moan, because then they are always right. As the saying goes, nowt queer as folk.
