Rovers appear to be adopting a sh!t or bust technique for next season. Some sizeable wages being offered out. Not sure Taylor has done enough to warrant a move to L2 yet anyway. So no big loss. If we were interested, then it wouldn't have been as first choice headline striker. Whereas at Rovers he will be. Not surprising in that case that our "interest" (not offer) was turned down. I haven't read all this thread(cant be arsed)but the Matt Taylor being discussed is the Matt Taylor that used to play for us,before going on to better things with North Leigh ? Yes, left us because teh budget cap in place at the time did not have room to 'carry' youngsters with potential but not ready to play a stack of first team games yet, as did Fisher around teh saem time. Taylor went to North Leigh, scored at hatload, then was among that fairly rare breed of player who having dropped down the leagues, got plucked out by a team back up the ladder, in his case Forest Green. Missed some of last season with injury I seem to remember

According to someone who works at FGR, Taylor hadn't lived up to potential there. Don't expect him to set Gas alight either.

"The striker, who has been at Forest Green for the last three seasons, turned down interest from Oxford, Mansfield, Chester and Kidderminster to come to the Memorial Stadium." How utterly classless is that? I know it's quite common for clubs to say that they've got in there ahead of 'a number of other clubs' but to actually list a load of teams who have supposedly been turned down? Pathetic.

Quite a feather in their cap to come out ahead of big teams like those.

Can we finish this thread now, what's the point in raising our hopes all the time. Have we got 11 players to start the season with?

"THAT" site has us "chasing Charlie Sheringham" I bloody hope not, he has been trading off his father's reputation for years and has failed to make a significant impact at any of the 11 League and non League clubs he has played for. His best performances seem to have been for Salisbury City in the Conference South, and was released by them. Please no. He's likely to go to Ebbsfleet
