Ive seen Meades play and he will make a difference next year. Good on the ball and will fit into GW style of play.

Maybe, but I'm sure the club thinks his best position is central mid

I think in that case then maybe both the Accrington and Northampton game give him a run out.

Because he apparently has talent and hasn't had chance too show it. One more injury though and then maybe he should be shown the door aswell. Ok looking at it from another angle , would u be happy if waddock signed him in 5 weeks time. A player that had a decent season 2 years ago but had been out injured all year but apparently had talent ? I'd be perfectly fine with it.

What's the alternative to keeping Meades?

Oh joy, if it isn't the annual 'get rid of everyone except 5 players' thread. I concur pretty much with what CaptainOx has said, give or take a few players.
GK: Clarke, Crocombe RB: Bevans CB: Mullins, Raynes, Wright, Long LB: Lynn CM: Rose, Ruffels, Meades, Whing, Ashby RW: Potter LW: O'Dowda ST: Beano, Marsh
I'd get rid of Hunt, Newey, Davies, Rigg, Kitson and Smalley. Maybe try and get Connolly on a permanent and see if we could have Williams for another season (unlikely however). I don't think Rowe adds anything different to our current midfielders so I'd let him return to Shrewsbury. Excluding if we re-sign Connolly and Williams, we would need two full backs, two wingers, a central midfielder and two strikers; and if no corners are cut in terms of buying in quality, you'd think we could have a real good crack with Waddock having the opportunity to bring in his own players for the first time.

GK: Clarke, Crocombe - agree RB: Bevans - agree CB: Mullins, Raynes, Wright, Long - agree LB: Lynn - agree CM: Rose, Ruffels, Meades, Whing, Ashby - agree all of them with the exception of whingy (injured too much) RW: Potter - as much as i like him, not done enough for me, injury prone, inconsistent and misses too many chances LW: O'Dowda - agree ST: Beano, Marsh - agreed to a point but for us to get better these need to be our 2 bench warmers - need 2 more better strikers i think he'll keep davies due to previous relationship id also keep Wroe and Williams if we can get rid of all the rest - Newey maybe is a good back up for left back?

Wouldn't bother with Rose. For all his industry earlier on in the season, he's been low quality and if he's supposed to be the creative midfielder - he isn't.
Potter - sell him. Flatters to deceive.
Beano - much as I like the bloke and admire what he's done for us, offer him a year on reduced terms.
Marsh - has shown nothing at all. Release him or loan him out somewhere.
And Wright? OK when he's good, shocking when he isn't and certainly not captain material. If we had a decent offer I'd be tempted.
Add the fact that Williams and Connolly won't be here, Kitson will retire and we have no creativity at all in the squad without getting new people in.
Possibly, we need a new right back, a new left back, two new central midfielders, new left and right wingers and two new strikers. Blimey.

Well, the first week or so of it.

From the squad today i would only want Clarke Crocombe Raynes Wright COD Ruffels Whing Kitson and Beano. Reason being their the only ones that try week in week out. Potter to inconsistent same with williams, connoly too lightweight rose and wroe just not up to it and hunt and newey no ambition to go forwards

Agree entirely with your pick ZTH. Add to that we need coaching/training that produces players from all parts of the pitch who do NOT need 4 touches to control a ball & a mental state of NOT going sideways or backwards when it's possible to go forwards. This has been coming for two seasons now & shows that our board know very little of exactly what gets bums on seats - it's not being able to say.."look at us top of the league" - when we all knew that we did not DESERVE to be there - it's playing exciting, attacking football - FOOTball not hoof or head tennis!

What's the alternative to keeping Meades? Selling him I suppose. Whoever managed to find a buyer would deserve a statue outside the ground. We presumably paid him like the rising L2 star with decent interest arriving on a free transfer that he was. We are asking another team to take on the wages, at the very least, of the guy who hasn't played a competitive minute in the entire season. To further weaken our position, we are the one club who knows most about his rehabilitation and current state - if we were to try and ship him out, effectively writing off our investment of one years salary so far, then that sets alarm bells ringing at any potential suitor. Note that I'm all for keeping Meades anyway. He came with an impressive reputation and I would like to see what he has, and I'm glad we are taking our time with this one. But even if we did want to get rid, I don't think we could.
