Could be the shortest list in OUFC history
With (unlikely at best) or without promotion.

Have they announced it yet? From what I understand is most of the players or agents have spoken to GW, asked whether their players are in his mind to keep, along with their expectations. GW has been busy looking and asking around who is available, ie out of contract this summer. The impression I get is he is looking at getting best value for money and prefers a smaller, more consistent squad.

Clarke, Ruffels,Meades,Mullins. After that I'm struggling to justify anyone else! Problem is the squad has had so much negativity instilled into them, there are some decent players for this level who may just need the right/better coaching The other problem is replacing them is easy but replacing them with better players is more difficult.

I will be very surprised if Beano stays. Yes he was isolated yesterday but his first touch is terrible, ball control is non existent. Waddock wants to play a passing game which is fine but its no good if the player you pass to cant control it. He never looked like scoring yesterday, Connolly had shots blocked, Raynes had two efforts on goal, both looked more likely than Beano.
Big earner (allegedly) for 10 goals a season isn't enough, he is an average league two striker, will be disappointed if Waddock cant find better.

Meades. Not sure about haven't seen anything of him to justify him. He reminds me off another left sided player, Tony Capaldi!

Offer New Contracts to: Raynes, Beano, Bevans and take the option on Wright.
Release: Newey,Davies,Smalley,Rigg,Lee,Shama,
Available for Transfer: Marsh,Hunt
Undecided: Long,Lynn
Defence: Waddock clearly wants his fullbacks to attack. Neither Newey or Hunt have the pace to do so for 90 minutes. So I'd transfer list Hunt, offer Bevans a contract to be the cover right-back and sign an attacking fullback as first choice. Leftback wise - Newey is out of contract so easier to get rid of. Not seen Lynn play but again would only be cover. Centrebacks - Mullins, Wright, then two more for me - Raynes if he signed a new deal. Not seen Long play so can't really decide on whether he would be the 4th. Kenzer Lee hasn't got anywhere near the first team so will be on his way.
Midfield: Whing, Rose, Ruffels, Meades plus two more - one with pace, the other creative. Scott Davies hasn't done enough on his few appearances to merit giving another contract. Josh Shama hasn't got anywhere near the first team so will be shown the door I would think.
Width: Potter and O'Dowda is a good start. Is COD ready to play a whole season yet? Probably not, so a left sided winger to come in and maybe cover for Potter. Rigg - injury prone and inconsistent.
Strikers: Kitson we presume is retiring. So in principle the only contract striker we may have could be Marsh (see below). I'd offer Beano a new deal but on wages that aren't first choice wages. Smalley to be released, just needs a fresh start somewhere I think. Marsh has to either be loaned out for a decent period, preferably in the conference, or just released/sold all together.
Loanees: Wouldn't be abject to Williams/Wroe/Connolly signing for a further loan spell/permanently.
Presuming those offered contracts all signed. Would leave a squad of:
GK: Clarke, Crocombe FB: Bevans, Hunt (listed) CB: Mullins, Raynes, Wright MF: Rose, Whing, Meades, Ruffels, Ashby, WM: Potter, O'Dowda FW: Beano, Marsh (listed)

I was justifying Meades for two reasons 1)He still has a year on his contract and 2)His performance in the pre-season friendly. He will, as they say "be like a new signing!" Wright would probably reject a contract offer, he wants to play at a higher..etc etc. I wouldn't be so quick to list Hunt, his long throws into the box would be useful if we had someone to get on the end of them! We had "attacking" full backs with Batt and Davis and that was deemed not to be what we wanted.Doesn't Hunt have he best "Assist" record of the season? Not sure Andy Whing isn't past his peak. Significant perhaps that GW hasn't picked him. Rose? No, sorry if the season ran from August to November, but he just ran out of steam come Christmas and just wasn't the force he had been - should have been rested more? I wonder how good GW is going to be recruiting the players he wants is the Summer? I can see the OM headline now "Waddock gets his Man" What it won't say that the player in question was well down the pecking order. Still suffering from post York (and Fleetwood) gloom.
This being Oxford United we will probably come away from Scunthorpe tomorrow with three points.....

Brett Williams will score goals at this level, and id rather offload Constable and bring him in. Other non league strikers have made it. Vardy,Barnett,Tubbs,Austin,Phillips, and many more.

Not Beano's biggest fan probably more as a protest to the blind hero worship he is afforded for running around chasing his own poor control and it's not about money as he loves the club so much
Having said that it's low risk to offer him a new contract as if it doesn't work out there will always be takers for him at Conference level so could easily be offloaded if a better player became available.

"Get someone in before offloading constable" Gosh, people are getting desperate!!! Why don't we keep the whole squad until we get better in? ?? I don't hear people saying lets keep Newey before we get a replacement in!!! Once again double standards for lord beano. We are a league two football club, like most we have a limited budget and have a one in one out policy. Signing a player on like beano until finding a replacement is self defeating, it means we have less wages available to find a better replacement. Release all other than Clarke, Raynes, Mullins, Meades and the youngsters.

A player that had a decent season 2 years ago but had been out injured all year but apparently had talent ?
