Life-long Oxford United supporter and OxVox member Cris Bowden will be raising money for Helen & Douglas House and specifically 4-year old Ellie who was born with Congenital Toxoplasmosis. Cris and 3 other team members will be driving to all 92 football clubs in 92 hours to raise money and awareness for Helen & Douglas House. The estimated total distance travelled will be in the region of 2500 miles, starting at the Leicester City v Brighton & Hove Albion fixture on the 08 April 2014 and finishing at Home Park to watch Plymouth Argyle v Oxford United on the 12 April 2014.
In addition to the sponsorship there will be an online auction in April, with all the money raised going straight to Helen & Douglas House. The aim is to raise £5,000 through the drive and auction. Helen & Douglas House have cared for four year old Ellie and her parents since she was born with congenital toxoplasmosis. At just two weeks old, Ellie nearly died in intensive care and at the same time her parents learned she was severely disabled. Helen & Douglas House use their time and expertise to care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions and to provide support to their families. The two hospice houses offer specialist symptom and pain management, medically-supported short breaks and end-of-life care, as well as counselling and practical support for the whole family. No charge or fee is levied on the families for using either house; however it costs £5 million every year to run.
If you would like to Sponsor Cris Text: DRIV92 £2/ £5/ £10 to 70070. E.g. DRIV92 £5 You can also follow the challenge and news on the April auction on www.facebook.com/drive92in92 and on Twitter at @drive92in92
We have the letter of confirmation provided from Helen & Douglas House if anyone would like to read more about Cris’ challenge. Please drop us an email at corporate@oxvox.org.uk
