I have just emailed members the paperwork for the OxVox AGM. If any members don't receive this, please let me know.
As ever, we are keen to find members who might be willing to serve on the OxVox committee. The ongoing issue of the Stadium and its role in Oxford United's future continues to act as a reminder of the importance of a supporters' trust in representing supporter views and working to foster dialogue, and a varied and active committee is important to help OxVox do just that.
The paperwork I've just sent round includes the nomination form for the committee and the deadline for nominations is 31st January. If you want to find out more about what this involves, please get in touch.
Cheers!
Matt (OxVox Secretary)

The deadline for completed nomination forms is 31st January, so we have two home games before then. If anyone else would like assistance in finding a proposer and/or seconder to sign their form (or simply wants to save themselves a stamp!), or wants to find out more about what's involved, then get in touch and someone from OxVox can hopefully meet you and help out here.
The Trust is what United supporters make of it, and it would be great to see new thinking, new energy, and new people willing to help out getting involved. If you think supporter representation and involvement is important at Oxford, do please give serious consideration to putting yourself forward.
Cheers!
Matt

Come on you Yellow Voice stalwarts! Perfect opportunity to get yourselves on the OxVox committee and make the changes you so desperately want from within!
i'd go so far as to say this is your chance to "put up or shut up".

There is no way they can claim not to be aware of these impending elections. If they had anything about them they would stand. I do not expect them to.

I am pleased to be able to report that OxVox received five nominations to the Committee. As only four vacancies on the Committee are available the Trust will hold an election to decide which four candidates will join the Committee. Thanks to all five candidates who have put themselves forward, regardless of which four are ultimately selected by the membership. OxVox relies on such volunteers, and so it is always good to see a number of members wanting to do this. New ideas and energy help move the Trust forward, and we would be delighted to see other new faces putting themselves forward in future years. Information on the five candidates is available here: oxvox.org.uk/pageContent.aspx?id=151 If you are a member of the Trust, an email should be landing in your inbox fairly soon to let you know how to vote. As ever, any members who don't receive that, let me know and I'll check what's gone wrong... Cheers, Matt.

A reminder that the AGM is coming up ahead of our next home game.
If you can't make it, you have just over a week now to cast your votes in the committee election or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf at the meeting. The deadline to do this online (or to get postal votes/proxy forms to us) is midnight on Thursday 6th March.
Cheers!

Hi, my name is Sean Wilde and I'm seeking re-election on the OxVox committee. Therefore, please find below information about myself and why I want to be re-elected. You'll also find a link below that enables OxVox members to cast their vote prior to the AGM which is being held on the 8th March. However, please note that votes via the below link must be submitted before midnight on Thursday 6th March. With accusations being made about certain committee members being to close to the club, I'd like to draw your attention to the third paragraph within my statement below as this stipulates the reasons for my drive to be re-elected, as I certainly won't take this route or allow OxVox to. Looking forward to your vote..go on Roley, I'm looking forward to your vote!! www.surveymonkey.com/s/CKZYRGH I have been a committee member for five years. During that time I have been heavily involved in initiatives such as the 12th Man, subsequent selling of badges and the slightly disturbing Chris Wilder face masks! I was also a prominent figure behind the petition to rescind the five point deduction, which I then drove to Birmingham to hand over to the Football Conference. I happily partake in activities such as these because – like all Oxford United fans – I care about the club and I want us to be successful both on and off the pitch. Looking at how easy other clubs have gone into demise, it is clear that the role a supporters’ group such as OxVox provides is an extremely important one. For that reason, I became a member of OxVox and ultimately a member on the committee. I believe that as part of the role of being an OxVox committee member, you represent the fans by asking the club pertinent questions. This representation ensures a broader range of opinions are voiced and considered, something I believe hasn’t always been the case. This has previously resulted in accusations that OxVox were too afraid to ‘rock the boat’, but I can assure you that this hasn’t and won’t be the case on my behalf. I believe this situation has improved in recent years, and to ensure we do not go backwards I will continue to ask probing questions on behalf of the fans. I am also extremely supportive of initiatives such as Yellow Army, and will work to help in whatever way I can to make this initiative even more successful. I greatly enjoyed partaking in the recent Yellow Army walk which raised money for the club and a local charity. Although I may not been seen in the public eye as much as other members of the committee, I am just as dedicated to the trust and club, but I have no desire to raise my profile by being seen or heard on the local TV/radio. My son & I are season ticket holders, and I have personally supported the club for 36+ years. In my day job I am a Professional Negotiator for a large organisation which I believe is an essential attribute to bring to the OxVox committee.

For the sake of fairness I should probably add something to this as te other 4 candidates don't post on forums. Firstly I've enjoyed working with Sean and wish him luck in the election and he is one of 5 excellent candidates (2 being new). OxVox is certainly independent and not too close to the club and any of the candidates would a maintain that status quo. You can read all the candidate statements here: oxvox.org.uk/pageContent.aspx?id=151Good luck to all of the candidates!

Hello Sean, just read through your post, and found it very impressive, as you yourself must have -as you 'liked' your own post!! As a founder member of OxVox, (I bowed out due to not having the time and stamina the 'job' requires) I often felt that the Group were too 'softly softly' and not pertinent with their questions- as though in awe of the Club and Officials. I'm not saying they should have adopted a more Bullish approach, but somewhere in between softly softly and that stance! Also, good to hear you're not looking to inflate your ego! You get my vote btw, and so wish you all the best.

Also, good to hear you're not looking to inflate your ego! You say that, but as you pointed out, he did 'Like' his own post, how much more proof of ego-inflating do you want? Of course, Sean could retract this errant 'Like' and post an apology, showing there is a humble side as well...

Use the one that was emailed to you in one of the OxVox emails. I just checked the one I sent out earlier today and it was working, but let me know if you're still having problems. Cheers, Matt

Unfortunately I wasn't re-elected on the OxVox committee today, but just wanted to thank all those who took the time to vote for me, it was much appreciated.
Personally I'm disappointed that I wasn't re-elected, but I suppose it was always going to be a difficult.
I have concerns moving forward, but I suppose time will tell.

So much for proactive canvassing, then. Commiserations.
Maybe you'll be able to share your concerns with us in due course.

I am writing up the AGM notes and will aim to circulate those to members soon.
However, to confirm the result of the election: Michael North, Terry Winter, Andy Wilmer, and Graham Butler were all elected, which did mean Sean was not. It was, however, very close (two votes).
Sean has served on the Committee for five years, no insignificant period, and OxVox owes him a debt of thanks for everything he has contributed during that time (which you may well have read about in his candidate statement linked to above).
The question was raised during the AGM about co-opting members on to the Committee. The Committee can decide to co-opt up to two additional members to work on a specific project or cover a particular aspect, and when we meet, we will be discussing what we would like to do here. I have also asked Sean if there is something he would like to do in particular in such a role.
Thanks to all the members who attended the AGM. We will be posting online the Performance Report and Accounts for the last year when we circulate the AGM paperwork for those who were unable to attend.
Cheers,
Matt
