Plenty of room for hanging flags in the away section at York as we did a few seasons back in the Conference. Pretty deep terrace as well which would allow for one of the surfer flags potentially? (If York would allow it) Not sure who normally takes a lead on this anymore - John Lennon? Normally a tempting away day with the most pubs per square mile in England. Proximity to Christmas might put a few off but hopefully upwards of 450 will travel.

York is a great day out, its right up there compared to other away days currently in league two. It's a shame I can't make it due to work

Can't wait, York is a brilliant place for an away day. Starts straight from the station too - the pub on the platform is fantastic for its choice of beers.

The price of getting mi lady to give me a lift to and from the Pompey game was a weekend Christmas shopping in York so I'll be there.

If we can avoid defeat that will be unbeaten in the league until the New Year at least - that would be mightily impressive.

I am happy to contact York if fans want to organise something for this. I've spoke to the Safety Officer with regards to hanging flags - he said it is fine as long as they don't present a trip hazard or cover any advertising boards - he did say he would prefer them to be tied up rather than taped. I didn't mention anything about a surfer/waving flags. His name is Chris Tock and email is chris.tock@yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk and Phone Number 01904 624 447

I'm up in York for that whole weekend - love the place. The wife & daughter will be xmas shopping so me and my lad are off to the game. Plenty of decent pubs around too.

I've booked a nice hotel for me and my good lady for the weekend. Said I'd take her Xmasshopping. Couldn't believe my luck when I looked it the fixtures and realized we were playing York that weekend. I'll be the one stood on my own as I took her to the game last season and she hated it!!! Something about an uncovered terrace she said and 'never again'!!

I'll be taking my flag, hopefully a couple of the ultra lads will be going up and get to take a few of theirs, which are also in those pictures. As we seem to be taking less flags to games nowadays for some reason.

I am happy to contact York if fans want to organise something for this. Would be great if you could contact the safety officer for us. We'd like to start taking plenty of flags to games again just like 2008-2010. Games like Grays, Kidderminster, Woking, York and Exeter provided us with some amazing photos of our fans, we're hoping to start recreating those away days

Of course Oggie. I'll have a chat with you and some of the Ultras on Saturday, then contact York on Monday and see what can be done.

Which is interesting when you consider that I was told that unless I had a written permission from this Chris Tock character I couldn't hang my flag up. Only 'official' flags apparently. I didn't see any flags other than what I assume were the 'official' ones (the big wavers) so I suppose others must have got the same message.

There was about 4/5 flags, including mine, hung on the terrace poles, which weren't 'official' And there would of been loads more, but a car full of lads with the ultras banners broke down in the morning.

My mates were the ones with flags in the York end and I walked to the game with them. We saw Tock before the game - he confirmed to me that flags were fine to be hung up in the away end. I hung mine without any challenge from a steward as did a few others. Sounds like you just got a picky steward.

I did contemplate just hanging it up anyway but its generally better not to antagonise the jobsworths and I wasn't going to risk that over something pretty trivial. I only mentioned it because it was a bit of a surprise to be confronted when JL had posted on here that he'd spoken to the York safety officer who'd said flags were fine.

I spent a good amount of time on the phone to the York safety officer, and I made sure that he confirmed everything we could and couldn't take in before I put the phone down.
I am very disappointed to learn that flags wernt allowed to go up after I received official permission.
I will be following up on this, and will express my disappoinment both to our club, and York City, that what was agreed didn't happen.
