Howdy fellow Yellow People.
I'm sure this has been covered, but can someone please confirm who is out of contract, and who people think we should be keeping.
Another thing, does Jake Wright only have 1 year left on his current deal?
Personally, I think our squad will contain the following after tomorrows 'meetings of doom'... Thoughts?
Clarke Crocombe Batt Raynes Wright Whing Rigg Davies Davis Constable Potter Marsh Sam Long O'Dowda
Goalkeepers 1 Clarke 21 Brown 31 Crocombe Defenders 2 Batt 4 Raynes 5 Duberry 6 Wright 16 Whing 17 Capaldi 22 Worley 23 O'Brien 23 Evans Midfielders 8 Heslop 14 Rigg 19 Montrose 20 Leven 25 Parker 26 Davis 27 Davies Forwards 9 Constable 10 Smalley 11 Pittman 15 Potter 18 Richards 28 Marsh 29 Craddock
Additional Players 24 McCormick 30 Long 32 Lynn 33 Roberts 35 O'Dowda

Tomorrow only decides who will be offered contracts, not who is staying. You (not just you actually, most threads on this subject) seem to assume that players will sign take they're offered. Plenty will already have been offered contracts elsewhere & will want to see what they get from us. Others might just want to try their luck somewhere new.
We'll certainly know a bit more tomorrow, but not the whole picture.

Should have said, I find this (ie who is offered/who actually stays) the most intriguing part. We could have a massive (HUGE!) rebuilding job to do if these players chose to move on.

I would still like to understand who is out of contact. I realise that some players may already have something worked out for a move elsewhere (notably Craddock, who I think will head back to Luton if the money is stupid), but I think a majority of the players we want to keep will stay, as I can't see any clubs in better positions than us wanting any of them! Asa Hall was one of the ones who left for a 'better club' last year, but he just turned out to warm the bench most of the year - an example to other players how moving can actually hinder your career.

I'm actually really excited about it all.... I just spoke to my other OUFC mate - We just hope that if we are freeing up 6-7 squad spots - We fill them with players that will consistently be in the Starting XI - I don't want to be signing players released by Aldershot, York etc etc etc...

It'll certainly be an interesting couple of months. Batt's the main one that worries me. I know some don't rate him, but he's been a mainstay since promotion, was in the team of the year last season & any attempts to improve upon him have failed, so replacing him + getting decent back up might prove challenging. He's also one of those out of contract I'm certain will have clubs around league 2 (and league 1 wouldn't surprise me) crawling all over.

Does anyone know, out of those who are out of contract, who we have 'an option' on?
I always took this to mean that we can extend their contract by another year if we wish to. Is this right?
From reading this forum, it would seem we have options on Potter and Whing, which I think we would be foolish not to take up.

We have an option on Smalley as well which we'd be foolish to take up an offer on.

I think Jammydodger has it right - alongside Potter and Whing, we definitely also have an option on Liam Davis: www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/usnews/9506859.Oxford_United_s_Liam_Davis_signs_new_deal/Whether we take it up or not......who knows...... Smalley I didn't know about but you would hope (given that the option is bound to be on the same terms as the rest of the deal, and we believe that his deal means he's distinctly overpaid) that it's irrelevant.

Can't believe Batt is being released for any other reason than that he has another club lined up.
Smalley obviously been offered a much reduced deal as option hasn't been taken up. Should think Davies won't be offered much either,
We should have a lot of financial clout now for wages this summer.
Wouldn't be surprised to see people start signing pretty soon.

I'd have offered Davis, Batt, JPP new contracts, released Smalley. Others I agree with.

Blimey.
Quite surprised at the retained list but a clear statement of intent that we want a fresh start.
I'm personally pleased Davies and Smalley are (hopefully) staying but I would have liked to have seen McCormick, Batt and Davis retained. But that's by-the-by now and it may even be that certain players have made it clear they are going (Batt?) so it wasn't worth tabling a contract and making us look a bit daft.
This season will have the feel of 09/10 - let's hope we get a similar outcome!
