People need to remember OUFC's recent form - NOT consistent enough.

Please explain why you aren't happy with a 5 match unbeaten run?
I am kidding, but it's an equal flip side to some of the unhappiness around Saturday's result.

Interestingly we were top of the table a few weeks back against the bottom teams, one glimmer of hope.
I wonder where we are now in the table against the bottom teams.

I know you're kidding, but I don't think bobsyouruncle is! Honestly, is this what it's come to? We at OUFC should be satisfied with a very poor performance at Barnet, a fortunate win over Northampton, an admittedly gutsy performance at Accrington, a penalties win over a low morale Plymouth side, and an atrocious performance against Aldershot? People who don't want to face the facts of our current predicament will always find positives, however obtuse. What about hitting the post in the last minute at Barnet, they say. (Yes, but what about Barnet twice hitting the woodwork?) Where is the ambition? These are the people who never complain about poor service in shops or restaurants, and who trust politicians to look after them. Hate to use a cliche, but look at the bigger picture and see where we currently are. Why should we believe things will improve without radical change?

Hate to use a cliche, but look at the bigger picture and see where we currently are. Why should we believe things will improve without radical change? The point is that people immediately rush to find the negative, and forget our own good run. Our current predicament is not good enough, but to call it a bad result fails to acknowledge that Aldershot have been very good away recently and our home form hasn't. We don't have a right to win our home games by just turning up. The bigger picture is awkward. One could easily postulate that a lack of consistent teams has meant we've been playing half fit players or players out of position. Also our policy of long term loan players only has affected the bigger picture in that we can't add short term loans to the team to supplement weakened areas.

We are not a big club, we don't own our ground.
We are a fourth tier football team with players to match, they will make mistakes.
We do not have a divine right to beat Aldershot, Plymouth, Accrington, Barnet etc. Give the opposition some credit for the wonder goals they have scored against us, even if they have been helped by bad officials.
We are at budget so can't splash the cash to buy better players.
Injuries at key times to key players have crippled us.
CW is a vast improvement on many managers that have gone before.

to call it a bad result fails to acknowledge that Aldershot have been very good away recently and our home form hasn't. But have you met or talked to a SINGLE person who thought the Aldershot display was acceptable? I'm talking about OUFC's display. Forget about Aldershot's recent run away from home. Did our players play to their potential? Were we "unlucky"? If the whole team played to the best of their ability and the tactics made sense, that's all you could ask for. I'm not "looking for" negatives. I'd love to come away from a match with a warm glow more often than frustrated, but it isn't happening. People who fail to admit that we have a problem at OUFC are doing the club no favours. They are merely masking the problems. If bobsyouruncle and his meaningless signature want to be advocates for our current situation, let him. He clearly lacks ambition.

If bobsyouruncle and his meaningless signature want to be advocates for our current situation, let him. He clearly lacks ambition. This has turned into a bit of rant, not intended. I haven't and I would imagine no one found it acceptable other than a few, which is their right. How much of it comes down to things out of your control? If the Referee sends off Tonkin or Mekki's shot goes wide, is the performance acceptable because we won? So if we play well and lose, is it acceptable? It's certainly true we sometimes go to work and as hard as we try, we don't perform to our best. Sometimes you have to accept that people might try their hardest but lay the proverbial egg. It's human nature. It also pertinent to remember while some people refuse to acknowledge the poor performance, it's also true people hyper and over analyse a performance to identify minuscule negatives. I always laugh at in football one week a manager is a tactical genius and the next week he is clueless. He's the same manager, but one week the decision worked the other week it didn't. The obsession over 442 is a great example. If we played 442 then we'd win. Well we played 442 at the weekend and drew but the formation isn't to blame. Saturday was not good enough. Plain and simple. Is it awful? No. Is it the straw the breaks the camels back? No. Should we expect to better tomorrow? Absolutely. I don't think Wilder will be gone any time soon unless some decides to spend millions and buys out IL. Ambition is a funny one. Should we be realistic as well as ambitious?

I do try not to blow hot and cold, changing my mind on issues from week to week. I wasn't calling for CW's head at the end of last season, but a succession of "disappointments" has changed my mind, and I'm happy to stay on that side of the fence unless something remarkable happens.
Of course we need to be realistic. I don't expect Branson to take over, complete the stadium and propel us to the Premier League. I do expect a competent manager to get his tactics right, motivate the team and not drag out a series of excuses when he fails to do so.
Our ambition should be promotion to L1 as a minimum, in my opinion. Anyone who is "happy" with where we are clearly lacks ambition and, as I said before, probably allow themselves to be walked over in life in general. Let's have the guts to expect better.

The remarkable thing is that the club have gone 5 games unbeaten with all this negativity surrounding them. If only we had a few more Joe Nichols around. I have never said that I'm happy with the Aldershot performance. For the record I have been disappointed with 3 of the home performances this season-Bradford, D&R and Aldershot. I certainly want promotion and believe CW will prevail if given support from the Chairman and fans.

I don't see it as a black and white Wilder must go or not. I take games one at a time. Because it becomes an obsession. Why does anyone need to sit in one camp or the other? One thing I've never seen is what we want as fans in the next manager. People had a massive hard on for Mark Yates but he's never taken a team for promotion. What do we want? And who is available? Winning tomorrow is essential as it means whoever is manager can get extra funds to strengthen the team in January. More important for me is putting a consistent team out game after game. We just can't get there. And for once, Wilder is not to blame for a constantly changing team.
