Only negative for me tonight was the chap who kicked off at the lad standing up towards the back of the Oxford Mail stand, claiming that it was health and safety and then laughably threw a bottle at said lad. Not a polite "could you please sit down" from this gent. Oh no.
Would of been less annoying had there not been 12 rows free at the front of the stand, and numerous empty seats dotted all over the place. Plus, the kids concerned were not sitting in their allocated seat- they were in mine, and spent the majoruty of the game banging seats as loudly and annoyingly as possible. Please don't feel compelled to come back!
On the pitch- some nice passing stuff, defence looked solid, but I still worry that we are lacking a cutting edge......

Don't know what game you were watching, Capaldi was good, Smalley & Heslop were on on late in the game (Smalley) and in extra time (Heslop) only so its unfair to say they were poor. Capaldi was bad, and just because they come on late doesn't mean we should expect them to be poor. They had enough time to make an impact but didn't Why was Capaldi bad? Until the end of extra time I'm not sure he did anything wrong at all. He wasn't amazing but he was average at worst. He looked very solid.

I agree, everything went through Chappers & I think Potter was our best forward, working very hard and looking a threat as always.

I don't think the crowd will look too bad when you see other attendances. There were < 5k at Derby.

Any ideas as to why there were cleaners collecting rubbish during the first half in the East Stand?

I didn't notice him even hitting more than one or two crosses, and were there? Maybe right at the end of the 120 minutes, but it's a bit harsh to call him bad based on those. Batt was far worse in both respects.

The only player I thought didn't have a particulary good game was Beano.
Cox wasn't great but solid enough and it looked like him and Forster-Caskey were played in each others positions for the 1st 20 minutes with Forster-Caskey as the holding midfielder. Both were better once that changed.
Wright, for me, was Man of the match although he was lucky to stay on the pitch. Him and Raynes look very good together at the back and with Clarke behind them we could be a very tough side to break down again.
Both full backs, Batt and Capaldi, didn't really put a foot wrong.
Chapman got better and better as the game went on, looks like he could be quite a player for us this year, also seemed massive last night?
Potter was good, still needs an end product but he scares defenders when running at them and looks dangerous.
Rigg showewd some flashes of real skill but at times looks very lightweight.
Smalley looked lively when he came on, think we may see a much better player this season.
Craddock was wasteful in his shooting but always looked to get the ball and have a shot.
Heslop didn't really do alot of note that I can remember.
I think Bournemouth, in all honesty, were the better side but as they are a league above us with money to spend that can be forgiven. Good to start with a good result, no matter how it came. Attendance and atmosphere was poor aswell.

In typical Chris Wilder fashion United looked organised, worked hard and the attitude was good.Everyone put a shift in last night and got a great result.
Getting more players into advanced positions when we attack remains a problem however.
Bournemouth were the better footballing team but never really forced Clarke into action but looked very dangerous when Pugh especially got on the ball.
Rigg disappointed me immensely and I am expecting far more - he did get knocked off it and seemed to struggle physically. He looks to have a decent shot on him - does he have real pace ? Rigg and Capaldi though have no understanding of each others game yet.
Michael Raynes grew in confidence as the game wore on and defended simply and effectively but I wonder what he is like when up against quick opponents. Wright cruised through the game until extra time when he became scarily casual and was fortunate not to be red carded.
Unsure about JFC but he can pick a pass - I failed to really notice him in the first twenty minutes. Cox snapped into two or three tackles but needs to develop a better understanding with Chapman and JFC as we were horribly exposed at times on the counter attack.
Thought Potter looked decent on the ball before tiring. Beano was... well...um...Beano I guess mixing good with bad and getting in the ref's ear too much at times.
My big moan was the amount of times we hoofed it in the first 30 minutes but we did settle eventually and improved. The big positive was the defensive aspect and a good clean sheet and no injuries.

I noticed this too, very unlike Oxford, but when we played, we sliced through them.
