Absolutely bizarre this. Four doubles teams were thrown out for trying to lose, this meaning they get an easier opponent in the quarter finals. They were deliberately hitting the shuttlecock out of bounds and in to the net. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19072677

100% the correct decision.

They could have been a bit more subtle about it. Saw some clips on the BBC news this morning and it was totally blatant.
The best players in the world just serving it in to the net!
Now I'm far from sporty, but even I can get a shuttlecock over a badminton net!
Shocking

I've just seen this. How refreshing to see a governing body take positive and affirmative action to disqualify people for disrespecting the integrity of the sport. No panels, no committees, no pandering to over paid ego maniacs.
Well done the Badminton authorities.

100% agree it was the right decision. Whilst I understand the tactical element of it, they are failing in their duty as entertainers (and sport is entertainment) to entertain the crowd with a proper high-quality display of badminton.

The Koreans are offering a novel defense:
"The Chinese started this. They did it first."
The playground tactic. Nice.
Respect to the Badminton authorities. The athletes all swore an oath at the start of the Games to compete to the best of their ability. They purposely don't do that - should be out on their ear!

It's the corporate hospitality I feel sorry for. Just imagine if they turned up? What a wasted journey they'd would have had....

It's hardly a new thing though is it? It's happened many times throughout sport, including football inparticular. This lot were just a bit more obvious/careless.

Watching the women play the other day I don't think I saw a single serve go into the net. I know men nearly always serve low towards the corner to avoid a return smash but blatant cheats should be banned forever

I'm surprised that people on trial for murder don't use it. "It's hardly a new thing your honour, there's been loads of murders before. I just left a bit of evidence which allowed me to be caught..."

If only GB had just drawn we would have had a much easier route to the finals of the football!!

so....
45 games played next season and we're guaranteed a play off place
If we win or draw the last game we get to play the team who have won each of their last 12 games 5-0 after a crap start of season .
If we lose the last game we get to play the team who have lost each of their last 12 games 5-0 after a blistering start of season .
Do we try to win?

I saw the interview with the lad and he misunderstood the question - English isn't his first language. He basically answered what he thought the question was, not what was asked to get away from a "ask the question" for the 3rd time.
