What do people think about that Chinese swimmer who beat her personal best by 5 seconds?
Blatantly on the dope I reckon....

I've heard several swimming experts this morning (commentators, international swimmers, coaches) saying this girl is not totally new to the scene and has been improving quickly. None of them believed she was on drugs. I remember the Americans making the same slurs against Usain Bolt.

Shouldn't really reply given the title of the thread, but ignoring that I think its a bit out of order to judge her. Innocent until proven guilty I say.
Interstingly Ian Thorpe and Adrian Moorhouse have both said they took that sort of amount of their personal bests at her age

Of course when the same accusations are levelled against Florence Griffith-Joyner who still holds the unassailable 100m record of 10.49, they support her to the hilt.
They Americans come across as poor losers at times.

A load of ignorant, whooping Americans were supporting their girl loudly, talking when her opponent was lining up her shots, then left en masse (noisily) when she got beaten. Young Brits abroad can be an embarrassment, but these jerks were mostly middle aged.

There are 2 billion Chinese people.
Some of them are going to be exceptional athletes. Simple law of averages means there will be more exceptional Chinese athletes than American.
Plenty of Americans have won whilst doped up to the eyeballs.

Ah, but using that analogy India would be first or second as well. Chinese are good because they invest a shed load of resources into coaching, etc (and have a big pool to choose from). Australia (and us for that matter) shouldn't be anywhere if it was population alone.
