Given a choice what sort of player do you think would improve the existing squad (if we had the money to bring them in that is).
To me we need two players. A centreback whose actually good in the air, and a hulking great target man for those occasions when route one is the only option left (hopefully that wont happen too often).

Jimmy Sangare could well be the defender who is good in the air. I'd also not particularly want a huge target man, as it would encourage us to play the long ball football that we have already seen is very ineffective in L2. Mclean and Midson can hold the ball up well enough if it is given to them with any quality.
I'd be looking for a wide front player who can cross the ball both on the run and at corners (and play on either side and run like the wind and score goals!!!), and an attacking midfielder as I feel that we aren't scoring enough (any?) from that position. That puts a huge burden on the forwards to score (at least 2 goals!) and makes it much easier for opposition defenders to do their jobs.

Only area to improve would be centre back.
With Worley being given the opportunity alongside Wright, I would be more reassured to have a bigger more league experienced option on the bench than Sangare. However looking round there are few better available options. David McCracken (for example) moved to Bristol Rovers on only a month’s loan.
As always would love a left-winger, but with LSD back showing some spark and Cole still on the books, movements in must be balanced with those out.

Obviously we can replace someone with a better player, but I'm not sure we really need anyone...the squad looks very balanced with the additions of the two Macs...
Would agree a defender who is commanding in the air and could get up for corners, but maybe Sangare is the man? haven't seen him yet...

We actually need a holding midfielder because we have no cover for McLaren
The sublime to the ridiculous considering how many we had on the books last term

Would love to see us sign Adam Barrett form Crystal Palace on loan. He is an experience powerful centre half who would be great next to Wright. He has been out of favour at Palace since joining from Southend in the summer.

I'm sure I read that Glen Little just got released from the Shots.
Obviously won't happen, but the quality of attacking passing and movement we'd have with MacLean, Craddock, McClaren & options to play with like Heslop, Potter, Little etc

Think we need a new wide man, on the left, young, 22 ish. Fast, and out of contract , so he's a free. That'll do nicely.

If we were stepping up a league I think you'd start looking at replacing Hall, Clist and probably someone from the back four.

Payne plays there a lot and Sangare can too. I think with the budget ect three players who can fill that position is enough. If there was one more player i could have it would be an experienced League centre back.

If we were stepping up a league I think you'd start looking at replacing Hall, Clist and probably someone from the back four. Hall is an interesting one as he has all the attributes to be a class center midfielder. He is tall, lots of energy and get from box to box. He is also pretty young. In a way he reminds me of Heskey (not because he is a similar player!) but because Heskey had all the attributes to be class at his peak ie big strong and quick but it never happened. I still think Hall can get better but it remains to be seen if he does!
