I heard a whisper that Karla will be monitoring Burgess and Maclean from the stands.

Yes he played well that night, as did many others. But that one result and his 5/6 good games in 6months didn't move us to the top half from 'staring relegation in the face!' Steve McLean has the ability, but doesn't want to work hard enough. what would have happend if we'd lost that night and not stopped the rot? We'd lost god knows how many games on the trot before he turned up. The man was a genius albeit a lazy one, it was a great piece of management to bring him in. We also had Futcher on board, he stopped the rot as well.Mclean played for a contract after that was poor.Too many flicks how many goals ?. Where was he when you needed to battle. He will drift from club to club not good enough not energetic enough lazy.No doubt have a few good games for Cheltenham as Yeovil then back to usual. He was supposed to be a championship player.

Burgess and Maclean.....did they come from Dynamo Moscow? ....I know that they were both at Cambridge.....neither regarded as loyal and are prone to switching sides. I think that'll go over most heads just like batty's crosses... ;D

Wonder if JPP'll be fit. After all he is the striker who came in from the cold.

Steve Maclean is playing for St Johnstone tonight versus Aberdeen. Just goes to show how poor the Scottish league is if he's still playing at the level

Reading this thread makes me realise just how good our squad is now compared to previous years.

Just goes to show how poor the Scottish league is if he's still playing at the level St.Johnstone are my local team & I saw them play Inverness CT earlier in the year. Steve Maclean was one of the better players on show. I thought at the time that Oxford would comfortably beat both teams. I would say apart from Celtic the rest of the SPL are about mid table League 2 standard (and I include Rangers in that!!).

Where would you put Celtic in the English divs then? That's a tough one as they don't play teams of an equal standard week in week out. They either play vastly inferior teams in the league or vastly superior teams in the Champs League! Many would say they wouldn't survive in the EPL but personally I think they would....

That would be awesome...I'd really quite enjoy watching 45,000 rabid baying Bhoys descending on the home of Bassingthwaite Redoubtable FC for their top-of-the-table clash in Egremont and District League Division 3...

With the Brexit vote going the way it did, it's more likely than ever that the Scots will have a second 'leave the Union' vote and this time they will go.
So why would we invite what is likely to be a foreign team to play in our leagues? We might as well ask PSG and Inter if they'd like to give it a try! (Which is exactly what will happen eventually of course, when TV money finally overcomes what little bit of common sense they have left and they all get together to form a European League where they can keep all the dosh for themselves and abolish relegation)

I don't think there'll be another independence referendum any time soon. Yes Scotland voted Remain but that doesn't necessarily equate that previous No voters would switch to Yes at another referendum. I get the feeling up here that more & more people are getting a bit tired of old Jimmy Krankie Sturgeon & her cronies.....

But whether I am right or wrong (and that's not entirely unknown!) it adds more uncertainty to the situation and if some Scottish clubs want to play in the English leagues - and I'm not entirely convinced they really do - that uncertainty makes it more unlikely, surely?

I think Rangers & Celtic playing in the English league system is a no goer from the start. Perhaps the Old Firm playing English teams (other than in a European cup competition) in a European Super League system in the near future is their best chance.
