Gray and Keys would never have been sacked like Atkinson over it, because they are worth too much money to sky, and that is what it is all about these days.' Why is Gray so valuable to Sky? most people seem to dislike him. I agree most people seem to dislike him but with keys he is part of the brand, and Sky is all about the brand. A brand which will one day be the only brand if rupert gets his way.

I don't buy all this 'private conversation' nonsense. They were there in a professional capacity in a TV studio with microphones on. Just because they didn't realise they were being recorded that doesn't make it an acceptable thing to say when you're at work.

I think to be fair most people in most jobs say unacceptable things "in private", most of us just don't have microphones there which might have been accidentally left switched on ;-)

Baldy there is a big difference between what you say in private and what you say in public. I'll laugh at sexist or racist jokes. But I don't tell them at work or to people I don't know.
So it is hardly a defence to them saying "is it safe to assume that you have NEVER made a sexist remark about a female in a private converstaion with a mate ?"
It's common sense.

The issue should be that Keys and Gray were rude and inaccurate about a professional who actually had very decent game. She got the big decision right, I needed the replay.
The only person wronged has been the assistant. She is due an apology and probably a bunch of flowers - if that is not inappropriate. Don’t understand how others, who weren’t there, are now being offended.
No suggestion that West Ham’s treatment of Grant, which is far more shameful than a few comments, is down to him being old, Jewish or male. Brady and others shouldn’t cast stones.

Don’t understand how others, who weren’t there, are now being offended. Because the nature of the comment was that she was wrong because was a woman....therefore its insult is levelled at more people than just her. Because no one suggested that Avram Grant's alleged inadequacies were down to him being old, Jewish or male. Publicly. On TV.

Andy Gray used to live fairly close to me. Just outside a place called Hatton in Warwickshire with his second wife or someone. I know someone in that village who described him as a "bellend" Just making sure I am understanding you right. With all your righteous preaching is it safe to assume that you have NEVER made a sexist remark about a female in a private converstaion with a mate ? If not then you, my friend, are one very perculiar male indeed. In fact you are very odd if that is the case. CB - When are you going to reply to this ?

Oddly enough, I don't live on this message board like you do. I don't see the link between some average joe making a sexist remark and two people on the television making a sexist remark. I know every time I reply to you it's a CHOMP, but jesus, you do talk some bollocks.

The issue with this is that its sexism. If it was racism, even said 'off air' it would have resulted in more than a one game ban. Gray and Keys would never have been sacked like Atkinson over it, because they are worth too much money to sky, and that is what it is all about these days. That said, neither sexism nor racism is acceptable its just that sexism is, it would seem, less unacceptable than racism. Just because it was said 'as a joke,' or in a 'blokey way' is a frankly pathetic attempt to extricate the pair of them from the decidedly unsavoury light they have placed themselves in. It is beaten to the crown of most worthless excuse only by 'its what eveyone else was thinking.' Woman can do most jobs better than men.

Still as wise-after-the-event-and-by-virtue-of-twelve-replays-and-nine-different-angles as ever. Jeff Stelling should have Keys' job. At least he cares about football outside of the Premier League top four.

Maybe sky appreciate the free publicity this is giving them? Yeah because loads of people in this country have never heard of Sky!! People are saying "wait... there's some kind of way I can watch football matches on a TV channel that isn't the BBC? And it's a subscripton based service you say? Where do I sign up?" Haha are you for real?

Gray and Keys made those remarks in what they thought was private so where does that differ in the question I put to you. Just because they're TV presenters and youre a schoolboy doesnt come into it given that you're preaching rights and wrongs. Firstly, it wasn't in private it was in a TV studio at a football match! And second, these people are notable representatives of the most powerful broadcaster in British football. For them to hold such clearly sexist views and be allowed to simply continue broadcasting with little sign of acknowledgement that what they said was unacceptable sends out the message that discrimination against women in football is just fine. And even if it was a private conversation, now that it has been leaked to the press it sheds light on the private sexist culture within Sky and football, which can't be accepted.

What a couple of knob heads!! Got exactly what they deserved. I have never rated Gray anyway, too full of himself. That female assistant ref had every right to be officiating in a premier league match. She had obviously passed all the exams and she gave the right decision to award Liverpool that goal.
