Most memorable game/day for me,Bristol Rovers after the bald Eagles 2nd coming. It was Cheltenham festival week, and we were at an organised do at the Black Horse at Gozzards ford, we started at 11am,had lunch, drank all day won £500 on the hosses, got a lift to the game,Oxford won 1-0,and we decided to celebrate by getting wasted in the Bowlplex, mate was so p*ssed he forgot to let go of the ball, finished up half way down the lane with a broken wrist. He was that p*ssed he didnt realise till the next day that he had a broken limb. wasn't that the match just before the return of Jim Smith. I could be wrong, but I thought that was the game with the protests out on the road and storming of the boardroom. i could just be being stupid though.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the Bristol Rovers 1-0 win which was the protest night when Kassam was still here or Jim Smith's 2nd coming which was a 1-0 win over Peterborough post-kassam where N'Toya scored a great goal in front of the OMS with an astonishing atmosphere.

You miserable buggers theres been some memorable moments
Yemi scoring that goal against Dagenham
Those two late goals v York on opening day
Conceding that late equaliser against Vale and seeing their fans go nuts onto the pitch, only for us to go up the other end and score an even later winner
Pretty much any match in the diaz era

I remember some really poor and some really great atmospheres at both the manor and the Kassam stadium.
It's only the fact that we were at the manor for so long, welcoming teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, Wolves, Forest, and Leeds over several decades that we think the Kassam does not compare. As another poster has already stated - we have been a pretty mediocre side for the last 10 years. I'm sure the manor wouldn't have served us much better seeing us lose to Hayes and Yeading on a Tues Nite!!!
For the opposing fans who visit us - it very much depends on what they bring to the table. If you spoke to a Luton Fan or a Rushden Fan they would have enjoyed the atmosphere. If you spoke to one of the 86 Stevenage fans they would say it's poor.
These are exciting times, and the further we progress up the leagues, the better the atmosphere. A half empty kassam is soul less, and we must remember it's a big ground. We would need to be in the Championship I reckon to exprerience good atmosphere's week in week out.

well apart from the capacity facility wise the manor was like the old plough lane in many ways .

I remember some really poor and some really great atmospheres at both the manor and the Kassam stadium. Yeh, I agree with this. I'm probably as guilty as others of viewing the Manor with rose tinted spectacles. I have loads of great memories that far outweigh anything from the Kassam, but it wasn't always like that. Small crowds, no atmosphere, dire football were common at certain times in our history. I prefer to remember the good times though ....

Although I wouldn't argue against anyone having a bad view of the Kassam, we are all entitled to our opinion, I have to agree with the sentiment that some people look back at the Manor years with the rose tinteds on.
As for being fond of the stadium, well I am. As much as I wished that we owned the stadium, the fact that many players who sign for the club all seem to mention the ground as one of the reasons they've signed shows that perhaps it benefits us in a way that isn't obvious.
I 1000% agree that one of the reasons that people may not like the atmosphere at the ground is because for something like 7 out of 10 years the teams that we have put out on the pitch have been pretty shit. With 4000+ season ticket holders now and big games against the likes of Swindon, Bristol Rovers etc. your gonna get some good atmospheres this season.

Maybe it's time to change our mindset and get the place rocking.
The dump we visited last weekend is worse than the Kassam and I am sure the Stratton Bank is just like our open end when there are insufficient away fans to open it.
I don't think a change of ownership of the ground will make much difference to the atmosphere so it's up to us to continue to grow the crowds and make it our home. We will never move anywhere else and everyone needs to accept that.
The big games this season will give us the chance to experience what it really can be like especially if we also have success on the pitch.

More good memories at Manor cos I went there for 30 years and mostly saw top 3 tier football. Kas only for 10 years and 4th and 5th tier football. What about Torquay on a Tuesday night first win on Tuesday for years and we had to hold on to a 1 goal lead for what seemed 900 minutes and defended deeper and deeper?

There haven't been so many goals at the Kassam as the Manor Memories of the Manor 9-1 Dorchester 5-2 Leeds United 3-0 Arsenal 5-3 Swindon 3-0 Swindon 2-1 Reading Joey Beauchamp with 2 3-0 Millwall ditto 6-0 Shrewsbury 4-0 Peterborough 3-1 QPR 2-1 Manchester United 3-0 Brighton Didn't Simpson get 3 2-2 Liverpool 5-1 Sunderland 1-0 Aston Villa 1969 and I was hooked from then on in Plenty of away games with plenty of goals but as for the Kassam soulless it is and not too many great memories

Wasn't oxvox doing an initiave to make the stadium feel more like home? Stage one being putting up those signs showing the years we got promoted etc. What's next on the agenda, if there is an agenda.

Going just slightly off-topic, after a decade at the Ka$$am, we now only have 15 years left on the lease.
Any proffessionals in this area who could give sensible opinions on how this may affect the cost of purchasing the stadium?
Will the price go down as the lease comes to the end as we could theoretically walk away at the end of it?

I thought Nick Merry signed a new license agreement in 2006 for 25 years when WPL bought the club.
I could be wrong though.

Not trying to be a killjoy, but whereas I have loads of good memories of The Manor (some of them to do with its utter crapness) I have few of the Kassam. In fact, none immediately spring to mind. There was the anti-climactic Boxing Day 0-0 bore with Woking when we creamed the BSP attendance record, and the miserable play-off semi defeat to Exeter, but no real laughs.PS I should make clear that the two major high points (Swindon and Rushden), I missed. Those are my two overriding memories of the place too.
