Just watched the goal back again. He was way out. What a strike to win the game.

Xemi was ok yesterday, but we won't go anywhere if we are relying on him as a first choice player. He has a nice touch (which you would expect given the Barcelona background), and can actually tackle, but doesn't have too much pace. Looks ok as a squad player. To my utter amazement, Tiandelli played very well. I am eating humble pie as we speak. Thomas was the big disappointment- he did exactly what he did at Port Vale. Got roughed up by two big centre halves and didn't compete. You can bet that Donny had done their homework and they knew he would react badly to a bit of bumping around. Obika is clumsy, but he won more challenges in his first ten minutes than Thomas has all game. I think I must have been watching a different game to some of the posters. I thought we were marginally better than Donny but that a draw would have been fair enough. It was a clear penalty in the first half (the push on Thomas), and had we got that, Donny would have had to come at us, and we would have won by 2 or 3. We looked what we are- a decent enough L1 team. We are missing 2-3 players. We need a proper centre forward- Marquis of Donny was a pest for 90 minutes, and would be just fine, and a dominant midfield player who is nasty enough to win tackles and has a bit of pace. Ledson may be that player, but easy to forget he is only 20. Otzumer of Walsall is the best L1 midfielder I have seen this season. We won't get him, but let's hope the Swedish midfielder coming back from injury will supply that. As I have said before, whoever Pep signs in January needs to be proven L1 calibre. The foreign 'punts' have generally not worked out, and we don't need to take that risk. We'll end somewhere between 8-12...

It was a cracking win in terms of how we got it, brilliant when you are the only one of your mates to stay to the end, and it was an important win considering we hadn't won at home for two months. Another 3 points which keeps us away from a relegation battle in a ridiculously tight league, with a winnable away game next before a hard xmas programme. So no real complaints from me.
It was a so so performance, but you need to win when you are not at the top of your game sometimes else you are likely to be one f those sides that do go down.
This side has faults, but we compete and we don't give up, considering we lack size and athleticism and most obviously pace its commendable that we rarely get absolutely bullied by some of the physical sides we play.
The injury list and the unbalanced squad has hurt us, hopefully we can bring in players to address our weaknesses in January and get some players back fit to give us options as we are down to about 14 fit players now.
Still a cracking end to a game and it's always good to see a Ferguson throwing the toys out of the pram, even if it is the shit one, forgot how enjoyable it is to watch the ultimate bad losers lose.

21 games in and we have had more points on the board than last year every week so far, reading this forum you would think we were rock bottom, we are trying to play good football to feet, we are the second highest scorers in the league, some of our play at times is outstanding, you can see players improving week on week, we have youngsters and experience...yes we are inconsistent, have had injuries and need a winger with pace but its certainly not as bad as some would have us believe on here living in their bubble of gloom...We have a better team and squad than last year...Roll on Rochdale.

Agree with all of this. You could start to see why Tiendalli cost two million euros in 2006. and has a cap for the Netherlands. Mysterious how he'd not played for two years, but he certainly getting sharper, and in his post match interview said he felt he had got a long way to go. He and Ricardinho are really intelligent players and some of Ricardinho's passing is outstanding. Both Tiendalli and Ruffels sounded great on Radio Oxford I thought.
Thomas couldn't get much from that defence with that ref. But on another day he'd get a few free kicks.
I'm hoping Malachi Napa might be that winger with pace and will get a few games. I'd like to have seen him for the last quarter of an hour. But Clotet called it right. we won.

Was always going to take him a while to get his match sharpness back with that long out. Agree with napa, he will get his chance, but in a game weâre leading. If he had been brought on and we had conceded people would have asking why pep made the change.

The one change I would make is the leaving of Ricardinho and Tiendalli at the back at corners, we actually looked more like conceding than scoring from our own corners as the they both vulnerable to the long ball/quick counter attack, be interested to see if that changes.

I'm glad I stayed to the end to see the goal which completely changes your perspective of the game. I would have been annoyed and frustrated with that performance if we hadn't won it. There seems to be big difference between the top 6 in this league and the rest. Doncaster looked like a team we should be able to beat but we struggled and the result could easily have gone the other way. People are being realistic when they say we are a mid table team at best and we don't look good enough to challenge for a top 6 place.

Both are to short in my opinion to be left at the back on there own, This was confirmed with the numerous times the bounces sold them from the keepers kicks and throws. I would like to see Ricardinho on corners as Payne was struggling to beat the first man and Ricardinho has a wicked delivery on him. Leave Tiendalli and a midfielder back so we have someone to deal with long ball. Also we don't look dangerous when Eastwood deals with a corner because everyone is back. In my opinion Payne doesn't need to be in the box so we should leave him forward for counter attacks, because us sending everyone back to defend a corner invites teams to pile more into the box.

Listening to Darren Fergusonâs interview I canât understand why he doesnât realise why when his player goes down injured in injury time the ref adds that on at the end. How he can say that wasnât a penalty in the first half I donât know. Personally, I though mowat kept the ball in on the far touchline and it wasnât a penalty. The ref had a shocker, their no 9 should have been sent off but didnât even get spoken too.

I think Richardino showed he is a Brazilian left back with some very skilful play yesterday and I for one am glad he is here

What Darren Ferguson is endorsing is players going down injured in the added time period and staying there until the final whistle. They have a worse vulnerability to late goals than we do and I suspect that is behind his moaning.
I found Xemi to be a different player than I thought. Not obviously a run around sort of player, but was always popping up in the right place and was key in some of the moves we made. I can see why the club took a risk signing him but it's no guarantee he will kick on. Tiendalli is looking a lot more comfortable on the pitch, still not quite match fit but the talent is showing for the first time.

Oh and our much aligned right-back was probably my man of the match today. Good see him going from strength to strength despite the early pelters. Yep Spot on ...to be honest he looked pretty good until he tired in the first match he played for us ...which I posted at the time and got shot down by posters who never even saw it.
Everyone keeps raving about the Brazilian Golden Balls but DT is a far better defender IMO and showed at times yesterday what a good footballer he is.

Ferguson did get one out of four right. Wrong that Thomas wasn't fouled in the area. Right that it wasn't a penalty to us (it was a definite foul outside the area). Wrong that the ball was out of play before our goal (the video replay shows it was just in) and wrong about the time added on. The time put up in the board is the MINIMUM time that has to be played and the ref has the right to add on any time he thinks necessary due to injuries, time wasting etc. He really should go back and read the rules.

If the Donny players hadn't gone to ground to waste time, they'd have ended up with a point.

2-2, 5999 at the game. 488 Yellows fans, f*cking dog on the pitch! Payne and Thomas to score. Ahem! I meant Doncaster fans! How did that one slip by me?

If the Donny players hadn't gone to ground to waste time, they'd have ended up with a point. Ferguson was clearly gesturing at the players to slow down at every free kick & throw in (at least) the last 15 minutes, so bit rich of him to complain about added time.
