Gutted for him. Really sad thing to happen to someone that seems a really good bloke and a talented player. Don't think we ever saw the best of him due to his injuries but I wish him all the best for the future.

Good luck to him! Ribiero comes across as a rare thing in football - articulate and intelligent. It cannot have been an easy decision to make and all the best to him.

Sad for any pro footballer who is forced to retire through injury particularly in this case at such a relatively young age. Hopefully stopping now will help him to recover and not incur longer term problems. The worry is that he did arrive with a history of injury and we have quite a few on our books at the moment who are similarly affected. We need to ensure that future recruitment brings in players who can survive 40 plus games a season in a competitive and physically demanding League.

Can only echo what others have said, seemed like a proper professional on and off the pitch, great shame to see any player retiring when when they should be in their prime. All the best for your future Ribs

Sad news. Quality player on his day and very intelligent chap. Threadbare just isnt the word. Do you have to take this opportunity to take a pop at OUFC again? Someone's career has just ended. Just stating facts. No blame on the club. We have lots of injuries. Fact. I wish Ribs the very best of course i do.

Sad to hear that Ribiero is having to cut short his career due to injury. Just hope he doesn't allow this injury to be the end of his involvement in football, hopefully he can take inspiration from someone like MAPP, who also suffered an early retirement from his playing days due to injury. As a lot have mentioned he seems like an intelligent guy, just the sort who would likely succeed if he were to move into coaching or management.
Just 17 appearances for Oxford, we never really saw the best of Ribs, other than that sweetly struck volley against Charlton earlier this season. Would like to wish him all the best for the future, and say thanks for all that he did do whilst playing for Oxford (mainly that goal against Charlton!)

I'd just like to echo the sentiments on here, all the best for the future Ribs. I always enjoyed listening to his interviews after games. He always spoke plainly, truthfully and with enthusiasm. It's just a shame we never really saw him at his best but it was clear he had class.
I wonder if we've offered him a coaching role?

All the best to the lad. I’ve enjoyed watching him on the occasions he’s played. And mods - please please please can we change the title of the thread to his real name? ?

Very sorry to hear this. A career ending injury so young is awful. I hope he can stay in football in some capacity.

All the best to him. Respectfully though I'm pleased as hopefully it'll lead to either a new signing or the return long term of Carroll.. ...sorry, I can't see which bit is respectful

Tough luck on the guy and he could have been a very good player for us had he been fit.
Like others I would suspect that he will have some involvement in football going forwards and MAPP should be his inspiration (if he chooses to go into coaching)

So sorry to hear this. He gave an interview to RadOx after a game recently and sounded so buzzing and positive and like a really great bloke. Somehow I'm sure a guy like him will be successful in whatever he turns his hand to.

Was it a new injury or an old one, did he get injured against MK Dons?

Gutted for the lad, he has clearly been playing through the pain barrier. Hope those who slagged him off when he wasn't at his best feel guilty now.
