The headline of this article grips my shit! Why after such a woeful performance in the FA Cup would it be deemed acceptable to put out a strong team in a joke competition, but not in the FA Cup or the league? Personally I couldn’t care less if we lost 8-0 to Leyton Orient or any other team in this competition. Every single game (less ones in this competition) should have the strongest possible collection of XI men stepping out onto that pitch before kick off. I haven’t actually read the article as I have no interest whatsoever in the competition so it could quite easily say he played a substandard team (unlikely I know), but the headline itself was enough to annoy me! www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/15644116.Pep_Clotet_plans_strong_Oxford_United_line_up_in_Checkatrade_Trophy/

You're not the only one. Save a strong side for Saturday's game. It's infinitely more important

Aside from Nelson, and injuries taken into account. What did Pep do differently on Saturday than he would.have done for a league game?

Has it actually been stated anywhere why Nelson was omitted? Pep says in this article that as he now knows what everyone can do, there's no need to rest players unless they really need it. Was he really knackered, were they avoiding him being cup tied or was it something to do with additional payments due to appearances? Maybe they wanted an extra week to pay..

I dislike Orient intensely so if we'd lost 8-0 to them I'd be more miffed than thesecretposter...

Absolutely staggering that he would treat the FA cup one of the oldest and what should be the most respected club cup in the world with the same respect as a sham of a B team trophy game. The Pep needs a long hard look at himself we should pick weakend sides for this game not the FA cup. I am livid. I assume DE told pep after ballsing up the FA cup we need the cash which comes from getting to Wembley in this worthless competition.

Well as we have seen from recent seasons the cup can be a money spinner, the club/Pep not only risked much needed funds from that competition but lost the opportunity to attract floaters and potential new fans on a regular basis which with the lack of marketing from the club was a risk that has backfired. To state Nelson was rested to be saved for the league was astonishing given the Auto places have long gone and to then include him tonight even more so, you are now left with just regular fans and nothing to entice much needed extra support.
