So he signs for Canterbury in New Zealand as an overseas player. So the question is why is he good enough for them, but not for England. ECB are complete idiots.
Seem to remember Warner smacking Root in Birmingham, he wasn’t excluded from the tour.

I suppose Warner didn't fracture an eye socket did he? Although I suppose if it happened now with the world as perpetually offended as it is all of the time, the answer would be different.

Moeen probably can't bowl.
Anderson and Broad need to bowl bloody well and Cook/ Root need to get a hundred or two.
This is our chance. I was worried at the start of the series about the bowling of the two teams, but let's win this test.... please..

I worry with Moeen batting at 6 and not bowling. Far too feast and famine for me as a specialist.
Which means he'll blast a ton in 60 balls or something silly.

You 2 really have confidence in our team? I really respect your blind stupidity. We'll lose by an innings or 9 wickets.

209/4 up and ready to watch the second day. Hoping we can break the partnership, and skittle them out for 300. Then focus firmly on batting once. Sounds easy eh.

If you don't have confidence or optimism, what's the point in life? To realize when it's useful and when it's a lost cause. 400/7 on a wicket that is supposedly the best chance we have to bowl them out.

This series unfortunately is what I expected. Their bowling attack looks a different class to ours in Australian conditions.
Their tail gets far too many runs and their bowlers are 10 miles an hour quicker than ours. Starc was bowling regularly at over 90 MPH. Watching our start this morning almost every ball looked dangerous.
Not all over yet. We will have to bat very very well to get a draw though. Cook needs to stay in and score big..

It's not a lost cause is it yet? Haha do you mean there's a chance of 3 days of rain? It doesn't look like rain, but let's see. One England player has to get a hundred. I was pleased to see the England players get chippy with Smith yesterday. He clearly couldn't take what he'd been giving out for the past month and lost his temper a little. Feels like a chink in the armour. We need to be more aggressive with them.

We need a really big innings from Cook and We need Root to realise that he doesn’t need to smash every ball out of the ground. But like I said at the top of the thread I still can’t see past 3-4 nil.

I agree totally with that. We need one or two hundreds. Even if we can get a draw we need to give them some physiological concerns. At the moment they reckon that they have us. We need to get at them.

England really need to graft in this innings. They have to show that mentally they won't be cowed by their BS or get intimidated. The Aussies, like SA thrive on perceived weakness but aren't so relentless when it's given back.

Bat through today/tonight as a minimum. Hopefully we can bat our way to a draw and get some confidence into the team. Cook needs to stay long and score big, and others need to chip too, including the tail. The Aussies think that we're beat once 5/6 down which puts too much pressure on our middle order.
Another collapse and heavy defeat and another 5 nil could be on the cards!

Great last hour from England which has probably come too late to save the game but at least it has shaken the Aussies up. 2 or 3 quick wickets tomorrow morning and we have something to fight for.

Seeing Smith flounce off the pitch shaking his head after getting out shows the team has got under his skin. It's a shame our 2 best players played poor shots to get out again. They need to be 50% better, but it does show their batting can be gotten at. But... Someone in our line up needs to take responsibility and bat long.

If we do go on and lose this Test (which we should) then the Aussies will have won the two games really because of two innings - one by Smith in Brisbane, and one by Marsh here (as well as the fact that their tail has scored more runs than ours, even given Woakes/Overton's efforts yesterday). Someone needs to step up and do something similar for England on the batting side, otherwise this looks like another 5-0.

I can understand why he was happy, but I was a little disappointed with Vince being so pleased at getting 80 odd in the first Test. 'I would have taken that at the start of the day' Well yes but .... when a batsman gets in he needs to score big. As Tony said, the Aussis will have won two Tests in all probability, due to Smith and Marsh's innings. England need to play more responsible cricket when batting.

Wouldn’t it be great if we scuttled out the Aussies for 110 and then chased down the 300 odd with a couple of wickets to spare. Well that’s what my heart says. Sadly I'll turn on the Radio about 7 o’clock in the morning with a tiny glimmer of hope only to be dashed by the news that Australia rallied to 240 all out, and we are currently 28 for 2.

[img class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png"] Let's just pray that that last hour of the day has really affected the Aussies and has given us some confidence. I do fear 240 all out and 28 for 2 as the more realistic scoreline to wake up to though.
