Could be one hell of a p*ss up on the Cowley Road ore match followed by a bolstering of the new ultras section

Yellow Army..is there anything else planned for the day?
Would be good if there was a central meeting point (pub) that agreed to give percentage of sales to club / YA etc. Post match meet up venue? Can the club support with some ticket offers?
Struggling to see at the moment what is different about this game?

Fair play. Bit of a laugh, isn't it?
If the Yellow Army can get this to work then I'm sure it'll be a winner all ways round. Although we've been enjoying some great football at home, the match day experience is still lacking. If the Yellow Army can improve that then they have my full backing.

I hear Oxford has a brand new, state of the art shopping centre with rooftop restaurants, worth a visit 😀

Great idea, Simon and Tim. In the absence of literally any marketing activity from the club, anyone who makes an effort to encourage home attendance deserved support. For the numpty who said that it is pointless, consider the following: 1) we have a disproportionately large away following compared to home attendance. Why? 2) since the closure of the priory, we have seen a decline in 'walk-up' sales. Might this be because more casual fans see it as a day out (or not) rather than just a football match. 3) the majority of even committed oufc fans I speak to prefer the ritual of an away day to what they do when we are playing at home. In short, one of the structural problems we have at the club is that only a certain percentage of our broad support base wants to climb in their car, queue to get in and out of a clogged car park, have a warm bottle of beer in the concourse and sit, sober, in a three sided wind tunnel. Any attempt to improve that 'matchday experience ' has to be welcomed, surely.

Any large gathering of football fans down town will immediately get the attention of the old bill , who no doubt will throw a spanner in the works .

Idea of me being on here is to liaise with the fans. The issue may be which pub in the town is big enough for something like this? The towns shops and pubs etc make a lot of money from tourists and locals that don’t go to the footy. Would they be willing to basically give over their pub for a few hours? A few larger pubs a bit closer to the stadium may be a better option?

Any attempt to improve that 'matchday experience ' has to be welcomed, surely. I would say the majority of football fans in the whole country who go home and away prefer an away game than a home game. You could say fans will always enjoy it more away from home just because it is an away game. Look how many on here like Northampton as an away day. A fairly dull stadium with little atmosphere, it can take ages to get away if you park by the ground (usually have to pay to park by the ground too), poor choice of pubs to choose from and an out of town ground.

I am personally not going to make this game and I would also have to say any game against Northampton means nothing to me.
I hope the day goes well, but is there a meeting point for U's fans in town or something?

As my usual home games involve trains, beers, bar snacks, and a football match, perhaps I should make up a few sandwiches the night before wrapped In tin foil, and a flask of tea, drive to the game and sit in a car park pre-match listening to the radio, then leaving five minutes before the final whistle to sit in my car for ages waiting to listen to the radio.
On second thoughts.

We disagree, there is a serious point behind the admittedly silly idea: The Yellow Army Away Day (at home) or #YADDAH for short is admittedly a silly idea. Our intention has been to reflect that silliness in promoting it and we are hoping that all Oxford fans might embrace that, but there is of course a serious objective. The aim is to increase attendance through promotion of the game, and to bring something of our intense away backing to a home game. Pep and the players have all commented on how fantastic our away support is, so the thinking is, ‘can we do anything to bring that to a home game’?
A convenient part of this is that we get to enjoy Oxford, a word class attraction from visitors around the world, as if it was an away destination. Granted, it takes imagination, but the thinking is that if you get in the frame of mind of planning your activities in the city centre before the game as you would an away game, then you might bring some of that spirit with you to the game.

I hope the day goes well, but is there a meeting point for U's fans in town or something? One of the great things about an away day is that everyone does their own thing, and as the Yellow Army is EVERY Oxford United fan that’s a diverse group to cater for. Take Blackpool as an example, there were people playing crazy golf, lads in pubs and clubs, and families on donkeys on the beach. We don’t therefore want to be too specific in telling everyone what to do. Oxford is your oyster, enjoy it. That said, we would imagine that many fans will head for the Wig & Pen. www.yellowarmy.co.uk/yaadah-faqs/

It's a novel idea. I hope it works but in comparison to Blackpool??!! - Lads in pubs - Yes. Crazy Golf? You might find somewhere to play Pool! Beach? There's a pile of sand behind the new Westgate! You could take a walking tour of the colleges then ride on a bus and watch a load of Donkeys in Grenoble Road I suppose!
Seriously though I hope it's a success as there needs to be a lift from somewhere and the club seem to be on a wind down at the moment.

Seriously though I hope it's a success as there needs to be a lift from somewhere and the club seem to be on a wind down at the moment. That right there is why we have chosen this game. We know that not everyone will get involved and change their routine, but if enough of us approach the game with an "away day" mentality then we can have a positive impact on the players and hopefully the result. We're actively encouraging people to get together with their mates/family and have a day out at the football, enjoy themselves, and get behind their team. We don't understand why any Oxford fan would see that as a bad thing (not that you have eraser).
