It seems odd that we didn't have a striker on the bench on Saturday and he's not considered. Surely the money is there to pay him off, it's not worth it just to pay a player to train because that's all he is doing.

I know meltdowns are a regular occurrence here, but this isn't actually a serious suggestion, right?

Some people have a love in with Roberts. Based on what. Desperation? Getting closer to being 'desperate' - We have been so bad last couple of matches with no signs of things improving the pressure's on the manager, and now's the time he needs to show he has the ability to get the team back to winning ways. All we have had from him recently is cliché's. Worrying situation. I fully agree with your comments, but we might as play Olly the Ox with a blind fold on, as play Roberts. He had his chance to impress last season again at Oxford City, Conference South, but the didn't renew his short loan. Southern league or Ryman league he should be looking at I'm afraid.

One the reasons Appleton had enough was when he had to be spoken to about showboating apparently during training on more than one occasion.

I don't see the striker being the issue in the last two games. Whole team has been rubbish and no chances have been created. Prior to that we had been scoring plenty of goals so if team plays well as a whole we will score and if they don't likely we will find it hard. Agree. THe scouts took a few games to realise man mark Payne, 5 men in midfield and press high and OUFC have no answer.

Hang on, today's OM is saying Ledson, Rothwell and Payne are ALL being man marked?
Come one, that would be tactical suicide because it leaves you short when dealing with the opponents' other players.
I suspect what is actually happening is that we are not give any time whatsoever on the ball - the high-tempo pressing game which, say, Spurs like to play.
The best tactic to prevent it is to pay with pace. But we don't have any of that.
So let's pump it forward wuickly to a target man with quick feet who can lay off to the runners breaking quickly from midfield. Can we do that?
Obika's job methinks. Blimey, we need him fit

It's true though. Teams play a holding midfielder who follows Payne and the other two stay on Ledson. It's why we are stuck endlessly passing the ball around the back 4 before hoofing it up top - there are no other options available to the players. Hence why something needs to change in the formation and/or team

They had a corner on Saturday and I spotted four of their guys marking Eastwood. A lot of these teams clearly have more players than us so until we recognize that and address it we're going to struggle.

Blimey, we need him fit Absolutely. The plan from the beginning seemed to be ''ball to lone forward; lay-off; supporting midfield score the goals.' Unlike most on here I don't think Obika OR Thomas is the answer. Neither has the ball control necessary in that situation. The new guy may be the answer (please play him tonight!) but it may well require a change of tactics. I'm not optimistic for the Bury game. And I can see Peterborough being embarrassing.
