Eastwood: 7 - one really good save in the last few seconds. Tidy with what he had to do.
Carroll: 7.5 - a really accomplished performance especially coming so late into the line up. Set up numerous attacks down the right in the second half.
Ricardinho: 7 - so comfortable on the ball, fantastic at breaking forward. I do feel he gets lucky defensively some times (anyone else see him grab eaves shirt from a free kick in the first half?).
Nelson: 8 - two class tackles in the first half and battled really well against gills aerial bombardment. Never looked in trouble.
Mousinho: 7.5 - lost his man once in the first half but didn't put a foot wrong after that. Looked experience and assured. Good debut.
Henry: 7 - decent game, some really nice inter changing with Payne in the first half but faded in the second half, I think he does more than he gets credit for.
Hall: 8.5 - fairly quiet first half apart from one run and shot. Unplayable in the second however and gillingham had no answer to his runs down the right. Took his goal well.
Ledson: 8 - one crunching and fair tackle in the first half where he was very hit and miss. Some great passes and some very wayward ones. Much more disciplined in the second half and allowed Rothwell to move forward. Not sure what the altercation with the gills captain was all about.
Rothwell: 8.5 - another with an indifferent first half and a superb second half. His forward runs and the way he glides through teams is amazing at times and really can be the difference between opening teams up. Really well taken goal.
Payne: 8.5 - enjoy him while he is here. 8 assists and 2 goals already this season, this lad is too good for this league. His control, vision and timing of his runs are class. Needs a huge performance Tuesday from him!
Obika: 8 - played really well ever after a shocking miss in the first half. 2 assists and some fantastic hold up play. Our main striker this season so far.
Subs
Van kessel: 7 - worked really hard and made some really encouraging runs. Perhaps should have scored 1v1.
Mowatt: 7 - early days but showed some really neat touches and some great distance passes. Encouraging for sure.
Thomas: 6 - well off pace, looked tired after 5 minutes. Don't think he was being planned to be used!

Eastwood 7 Carroll 7 Nelson 8 Mousinho 8 Ricardinho 7 Henry 7 Ledson 7 Rothwell 8 Hall 8 Payne 8 Obika 7
Only reason I didn't give Obika 8 was for that miss early on. It was so bad he's lost a point, but overall he was still very good. Definitely our best centre forward if fit and available.

Their captain looked like he did a cheeky forearm challenge on Leggo (which also actually handballed but the ref missed that too) and Leggo took exception to it.

Agree the ratings there all roughly what would be expected after today's performance.

Was thinking exactly the same myself! Also, Rothwell is worth an extra +1 for the absolutely sublime finish for his goal! Hall was MoM though.....absolutely menacing throughout. They had no idea how to deal with him.....

Agree with all of the above.
Nelson- what a player. Will play Championship (minimum) next season
Carroll - the best 'local' player since COD and I reckon he has been excellent every time I have seen him play. Pep like MAPP was speaking glowingly about him today. Great attitude and will be a top player
Rothwell- phew the past two games have been his best for OUFC in my view especially today. Really pleased for him
Ledson- I have been a little disappointed with him so far this season but what a performance today (and interesting to hear Pep's positive views)
Obika- as a one upfront nobody in the club can do what he does. excellent again (except for that terrible miss)
We have some excellent footballers. Enjoy whilst we can ....

Henry 7? Nah he was his usual (for us) non existent self, we carry him and he is lucky to keep starting.
Other than that pretty much spot on.

Eastwood - 7.5 Didn't have a lot to do, but made a couple of smart saves in the second half and collected some crosses effortlessly as ever.
Carroll - 7.5 One of his best games for the club. He used the ball well in the second half and started off the moves for a couple of the goals. He's still a bit erratic at time, but for his age I think he's very good.
Nelson - 8 Another brilliant performance. We're luck to have him. Only thing I can remember him doing wrong was passing it straight to them at one point in the first half. He was the one that won it back though.
Mousinho - 8.5 What a debut. I'm a big fan of Williamson too, so choosing between these two will be tough.
Ricardinho - 7.5 So calm on the ball. Never seems to be phased by being pressed or harried. Really wish that cross/shot had flown into the top corner.
Hall - 8 To me, his attacking quality has never been in question. He's on track for at least ten goals this season.
Ledson - 8 Typical Ledson performance. I think it's much better for him when he has a playmaker (I.e. Rothwell) alongside him.
Rothwell - 8.5 He's so good at driving forward with the ball. On occasion we might be a bit too open with him as one of a two in cm, but I've always been a big fan of his and I'm happy he's taking his chance in his preferred position.
Henry - 6 He just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I'm missing something, but he just frustrates the hell out of me. He lacks any sort of intensity, and so often gets beaten to the ball of by his opponent far too easily. He's got quality but really needs to up it. He showed in the first 15/20 at MK how good he can be, why doesn't he play like that more often?
Payne - 8 Class performance again. Teams obviously target him, but his creativity and vision is so good that he seems like a guaranteed goal or assist a game at the moment.
Obika - 8.5 He leads the line very well. A lone striker needs to be a nuisance which is exactly what he is. Pace, power, arial ability. Probably needs to score more, but he does so much else you can forgive him the odd miss.
Subs, none were on for long enough to get a proper rating, however:
Van Kessel - Actually thought it was one of his best performances. He's very raw, but his pace makes him a constant danger. If the coaching team can improve his decision making he'll be a hell of a player.
Thomas - I've always been a fan of his, too. He's a clever player and has a good eye for goal.
Mowatt - Looks to have a lot of quality. Excited to see how we'll fit him into the team too.

Henry did tons of work off the ball - he made runs that dragged the defender away to create space for others so many times yesterday. He's not quick, but is very steady and much of his work is selfish to bring players into the game. Thought he put in a very good shift

Gillingham fans on their forums have mentioned him, Hall and Rothwell as the players driving the team forward.

I think Henry will be the slowest to settle in terms of tangible performance wise - goals, assists, clever interplay etc as we move on in the season. I was quite critical of him yesterday in comparison to the rest but I can see what he brings so far. I just expect there is a lot more to come

Only intelligent people can see what he was doing then? That's me screwed, I will just have to stick to watching our more mundane players like Nelson, Hall and Ledson whose abilities even a dunce like me can see, and leave James Henry to the sophisticates who can appreciate him.

Henry just doesn't do enough for me. Yes, he's an intelligent player, his movement is good and he often has some nice touches.
But so do a lot of our players. But they still do more than him.
I just really think he lacks intensity in his play. Quite often loose balls look 70/30 in his favour and he gets beaten. He gets outmuscled frequently and outpaced constantly.
I think he could be Maguire-esque (he was in the first 20 mins at MK), but I'm not sure he has the requisite desire.

Why didn't you apply for the job? I mean you've played at a higher level than Pep and unlike him you can see that Henry is utter wank. There must be some sort of glitch in Pep's spreadsheets, that tell him every statistical measurement of performance under the sun, otherwise he'd clearly get nowhere near the squad. Pep is on twitter, I'm sure he'd very much appreciate your insight.
