My first visit yesterday. Bloody well wish our ground was as good. I'd imagine there was no penny pinching or doing things on the cheap there. Really highlights how poorly designed, built & maintained our ground is.
They'll never fill it on a regular basis (for football anyway) but fair play to them. Got to be the best ground below Championship level.

Yes I agree. Better than Wigan's DW Stadium and Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
Far better than Doncaster's and Rotherham's and nicer than Ewood Park and the Valley.

I like Mk as a stadium. Decent facilities for food and loos, padded seats, leg room.

I was listening to the game on iFollow. At one point Jerome and Nick were discussing the excellent facilities at MK especially in comparison to the Ka$$tad. They continued the conversation by noting how close the stadium is to Bicester and the excellent links from Oxford and even speculated that United playing there could be "the least worse option".
I'm 98% sure it was nothing, but this topic of conversation continued for a couple of minutes during play. In other words, it wasn't just a passing comment. Have they heard a rumour?!

It doesn't have excellent links from Oxford really does it, not on a direct train route and considering the shortish distance it can take longer than it should by road. It is to big by far for a team that actually comes from Milton Keynes, for the thousand or two that would travel there regularly it would be ridiculously big. Moving miles away would kill the club, especially with no confirmed return date.

Yes it is pleasing on the eye with good facilities but it is far too big for them and would be for us too.
Ideally I would like a compact stadium that wasn't a bowl but with 4 separate stands that were close to each other. I'd quite like a stadium like Bournemouth's but 15000 capacity rather than their 11464. If we were to stay at the Kassam and own it I would build a 4th stand similar to the east stand and fill in the corner between the south stand and east stand and north stand and west stand.

The only way they would ever fill it would be if they got to the Prem (a very big if) and gave visiting clubs 7-8k tickets. But us? I reckon with a bit of imaginative pricing (& giving away teams 4k) we could pull in crowds on 15-20k in the Championship easily enough.

I'd say if we had 15k capacity, giving away sides 3000-4000tickets we would be able to get 10k home fans. I personally can't see us needing more than a 15k capacity.

It just goes to show owners up and down the country what you can get if you are willing to spend the money, is it money well spent in this case who knows. Personally give me a proper ground with good atmospheres every time, not these grounds in a supermarket car park.

Why would you fill in the corners between the South and East and North and West ? Why not South and West and North and East ? Surely if you wanted to fill in corners,it would be far easier and cheaper when building the West Stand to fill in the corners at that end ? You could then give away fans the East stand. P.S. You also say you would like a stadium "with 4 separate stands" Wouldn't filling in 2 corners make the ground 2 stands ? Personally i think filling in the corners would be a mistake, building the West stand (2,879) getting rid of segregation in the North and giving away fans the East, would increase the capacity to over 15,000 and home sections to 12,500. That is more than enough for 95% of games, any more and it dilutes the atmosphere when their are 10,000 empty seats for most games.

The only reason I said about filling in the corners at the kassam is that I think at the moment the stands are too far apart if that makes sense?

Very nice stadium, but the laughable thing on Saturday was when the announcement came there was over 10k there. From where I was sat it looked a lot less than that.

I am not sure how true it is but it was suggested to me last season that they 'give away' season tickets and a lot of the ST holders don't bother to go often. So they include the STs in the crowd numbers and nowhere near that many are really in the crowd. Last season's attendance was equally laughable.

Gotta say though not a bad ploy if you're planning on building up your fan base, lure them in when they're young to make the new generation of fans.

Average attendance in Championship is now close to 18k. To achieve that as an average you will need a stadium if minimum 20k capacity. Given the huge away followings, you would want to allocate a standard 4k to them. You then have 16k to play with home fans of differing hues. Ideally, 4k safe standing behind the goal, a large family stand with appropriate entertaining and cheap eating options and a large main stand with standard tickets in tier1 and hospitality tickets in tier 2.

First visit last season and thought it was a brilliant stadium. Ideal size for a club like ours and the acoustics were excellent. It is also designed so that expansion to increase the capacity can be done easily.
