Was doing well there until we recalled him last season. And close so he can still train with us and play Dev games if needed. But ur right going to have to be tested at a higher level at some point

Think the problem is not can the lad play at higher level, which I understand he can as the club had the confidence to make him at 19 the back up keeper for the last 25 league games last year. The problems is opportunities at League Two or National League as many of these clubs have Premier league 20-21 year old keepers placed at this level, Even Reading have two of theirs at National South clubs at the moment at Bath and Hungerford.
The lad just needs to be getting game time showing what he can do and hopefully that will open doors higher up the pyramid for potential future loan moves in New Year.

So this Saturday a United player will be playing in the FA Cup 2nd Round this season. Tough game for Oxford City and most likely a tough test for Jack Stevens against the league 2 leaders.
Understand he has been picked in the Non League Paper's combined National North and South team of the week twice this month. Game is the early kick off 12:30 on BT Sport 1 so hopefully a good opportunity for the lad to put a marker down on his progress.

Really very difficult for a keeper to break through. I was up in Harrogate a few months ago and saw Max Crocombe playing for Salford. They are top of Conference North and he played very well. But he couldn't get a first team place in L1 or L2.....

Stevens and Agboola both sound like they're doing very well out on loan, you'd think if Stevens is ever gonna get a chance here then it will need to be soon, will be 21 at the end of the season without ever having played above Conference North level, and with another good prospect behind him who is a year younger it might mean we let him go

He wont ever get a look in at Oxford, due to Eastwood/Shearer. I think we would go for a loan keeper, should those two get injured.

Felt it was a shame that Eastwood played in all the cup games last season, instead of allowing one of these two to get a few appearances under his belt -

Depends how the season goes but maybe with 5 or 6 games left if we're in the boring mid table position I expect us to be that could be a chance to give him, Napa etc some real minutes and see how they do

In someway Jack seems to be in the same boat as Crocombe, older now, and settling for non league football, to build his career from, whereas Napa seems to have the eye of the coaching staff and have real potential, and is younger.

Not sure where the Hayes and Yeading thing came from ! Surely the development of young goalkeepers on what I feel sure are minimal wages for a club like Utd is to allow them to mature in lower leagues hopefully moving up with further loans at higher standard league. To break into first team at 19 or 20 years old in such a critical position where most managers demand experience is extremely tough. Personally think if a club invests in a young goalkeeper with talent they have to be looking at a keeper challenging for the first team around 22/23 years old, where for a minimal financial investment the club has the chance of producing a 'home grown' keeper playing first team still at a young age and scenario that lets face it home fans love. With reference to Jack Stevens need to remember last December he was recalled from his loan and put into the first team match day squad at 19 years old and stayed they for the rest of the season when the club could have bought in another keeper in January so you would have to think Appleton and Wayne Brown has the confidence in his ability if anything had happened to Eastwood during the second half of season. Anyways see the lad just posted this on his twitter account audioboom.com/posts/6528708-1st-december-2017-fa-cup-rd-2-facupfactfile-oxford-city-leatherhead-herefordinterview starts at 20:30 mins and seems he has a good head on his shoulders and differs from comment about wanting to settle in non-league football !

Although 18, this lad has been signed onto a two year scholarship, so will be in the youth team to start off with and not a direct threat to STevens or Agboola (at least for the short term).

Stevens played pretty well at Notts County yesterday.
The FA Cup has been good for him. No disrespect to City, but I would hope that Stevens would get a loan move to the National League.

Agree thought lad did well and with pro defenders like to think the last goal would have have been sorted by defenders after what was a good save. Certainly did not look fazed by a team that will be playing league one next year. Still young get him to a national league side or even league two side challanging their
No 1 and see if he can establish himself
