I know the Prem clubs will be discussing this on the 7th September, and so will the EFT at some point next month too, but I see this being a very difficult issue to pass through.
The big Prem-bots will not fancy the thought of finishing their importing by the start of August, only to have the danger of a foreign side (whose windows remain open for longer) swooping in for one of their players, and leaving them unable to replace him.
If the Prem don't fancy it, then I find it unlikely the EFL will like the idea of shutting up shop while the Prem clubs could still potentially swoop for their players.
I know it's still not had much of an effect on things like the Checkatrade Trophy, but (presuming we're all in favour of it) is there any way OxVox can raise the subject with other Supporters Trusts and make some noise about this? Try show the big wigs we back the proposal of shutting the window on the first day of the season?
(Though even then, the Prem starts a week after the EFL, so even "the first day of the season" is going to be up for debate...one the fat cats will win, I'm sure. But I'd put up for the window closing last Friday as opposed to the start of September.)

what's so difficult if you want to sign our player do so by (1st day of season) instead of 1st september or whenever it is..clubs have an idea if their prepared to sell and can find replacements beofre closing date same as now...if they don't want to sell then it makes no difference.

Interested to see why it is assumed that the rest of Europe dont want to follow suit - as long as everywhere does it, then it should not affect anyone adversely. I'd love to see England do it unilaterally anyway, especially as by this stage those players likely to move abroad are already kicking their heels training with the kids or hiding on South America,,,

How about not having a transfer window at all? Then the nonsense will go away...

Wouldn't it just be perennial? "Team X loses 2 on the trot and go on a spending spree" - kind of thing.
Bring back the maximum wage.

Pretty sure under EU law the transfer window is illegal,as is only being allowed to play for a certain amount of clubs per season. Workers rights etc.
I always wondered why fat Bob never created a big stink over Oxford's European ban back in the day,at best it was restriction of trade,at worst Racism.
Oxford United,a team that has never played in Europe,(i don't count the Anglo Italian)through no fault of their own, were refused the chance to ply their trade on the continent, just for being English.
Surely under EU law that was illegal ?
