www.oufc.co.uk/news/2017/august/oufc-database/Interesting read.. Didn't witness this myself on Saturday but it's a shame that bigger crowds will bring in people who haven't taken a minute to check the website for ticket details beforehand. I'm sure these weren't regulars as you'd have thought they'd have known you had to be on the database. (Or maybe they were Pompey fans who weren't allowed into the home end!)

The ticket office staff do a magnificent job they're our ticket office staff and they should be treated with respect. Those who verbally abuse our ticket office staff should and hope would be refused a ticket.

I doubt the casual fan would know they have to be on the database to buy home tickets if it's not sold out to home supporters, so would expect to walk up and simply pay cash at the ticket office. It's not obvious when you look at this link www.oufc.co.uk/tickets/home-tickets/and the T&C section doesn't seem to link anywhere. OK it might have been in the pre-match preview saying you had to be on the database on 9 July, but how many people read that? Not that I am defending abuse of ticket staff, but this database point could have been publicised a bit more.

To be fair I'm surprised an oxford fan would do that.
If you planned to go to the game and known it was going to be a big crowd so should be checking info out before the game.
Even if I decided at 2pm on Saturday i wanted to go and watch oxford v pompey i would of checked any ticket details.
If it's bury at home fair enough.
Unless it was some ticketless pompey fans trying it on?

If you plan to go to a game at last minute then you check ticket details.
I once went to aldershot away at the last minute. I knew it was all ticket for Oxford fans so rang aldershot ticket office to check if it was all ticket for home fans and if fans needed to be on the clubs data base for home areas. She said no so I turned up and got 2 tickets for the home end. I even had a steward let me into the away end at half time!

Would this be the same situation as in the ground, you can get arrested for swearing at a football match? Yes the club could be more pro active and put the data information out there before every big match, but fans need to take responsibility for their own actions in getting tickets sorted. The people in the ticket office are part of the backbone of this club, they have worked tirelessly over the years keeping their part of the business going against mounting problems at times, they do a top job...

How does "getting shouty" improve your chances? It doesn`t. Sadly football still attracts the neanderthals that think it will fix anything the louder you shout.
People working in the ticket office do a sterling job and shouldn`t have to deal with stuff like that.

You have to be on the database to buy a ticket, but apparently not to purchase a box. Was in box 3 on Saturday, boxes 1,2 and i think 6 were Pompey. When Rosie came in our box on Saturday,he said "everything all right lads" When someone said,"yes until we score and it kicks off with the Pompey next door" His reply "they'll be ok" So obviously Rosie and the club knew they were Pompey. The lads in 1 and 2 were mid 30s so could have been anything,as it happens they were sound and complimented Oxford at the final whistle. Obviously £2,700 for 3 boxes was to much money to turn down,on the database or not. Much more controlled environment and they probably have one persons credit card details if things go pear shaped?

Says a lot that that many boxes are available. I think last season if not the season before they were all taken. Price rises must have put a few off

Not really "a more controlled environment" We were sat next to the Pompey fans in box 2,the door to the seats in our box was in between boxes 3 and 4,if it did kick off the steward ( a nice guy in a suit and tie) would have to get past all ten of us to get between us and the Pompey. Anyway that wasn't my point,my point was the club were aware that Pompey had "infiltrated" the home end and let it ride.

Price rises must have put a few off Without doubt,we used to get a box at least once a season, the club did a deal pre xmas against Carlisle a few seasons ago for £250 +vat (a guy used his company credit card,so he claimed the vat back) a bargain at £25 per head. Saturday was £750 + vat,i was only invited because a client of the company that booked the box pulled out late on. £75 a head(or £90 with vat) is to much even for a big game. P.S. That was without food and with no draught beer,i dont know the price list, but the bottled beer tab was £350 ! 74 x 330ml bottles of becks Or 59x 500ml bottles of doom bar 👀👀

I think it’s wrong of OUFC to put away fans in the boxes. I’d be majorly peeved if I was sat in front of a box full of away fans, having to listen to their crap all game. If I was happy to sit next to fans of other clubs, I’d go to watch rugby.
Segregation exists for a reason and the club should insist on maintaining it no matter where in the ground it doesn’t exist.

Not been in a box since we hired one and a "sponsor" next door thought it would be "funny" if their smokers sat in front of our box for a fag, we started getting hassle from the stewards & folk who work up there, we went next door and enlightened them. They didn`t appreciate it.

As you'll see from our Ian Mixter Forum notes, due to be sent out this week, it's becoming a problem. Not only are the Ticket Office shouted at, one reason for OUFC stewards leaving the role, is because they too, are subject to abuse from the stands.
Plenty of incidents every game of foul and abusive language directed to staff or fellow supporters. It has to stop.

Perhaps an official OUFC notice on the wall outside the ticket office reminding people of the database rules and respect of staff might help?

The steward came blaming us and statingwith rules and regulations.mit was pointed out that this bunch of day trippers were to blame.mhe skulked off and did nothing.

The worst was when Southend came and were in a box. Horrible drunken abusive shouting all game, then sun tan man got sent off and joined them in the box, still shouting at fans as he walked up and jumped the wall. Not sure if it was the same game but it also had that bold taxi driver from eastenders who married bianca in there one game , doing the same.

Perhaps an official OUFC notice on the wall outside the ticket office reminding people of the database rules and respect of staff might help? Even notices going into the ground to ask that fans show respect to staff would be good. It's really not hard to be decent, but having seen some fans asked to be quiet when they are gobbing off, most replies are largely swear words or threats of violence.

I`m sure nobody joins in with songs with rude words in....Centre half goes in with a leg breaker and we say "Oh you naughty sausage thats not very nice"............. jeez the game is f**ked then. Is this the "official" Oxvox stance that swearing is unacceptable in any form? If that is the case i had better bin my membership.

"or fellow supporters"........... so thats away fans as well then? I can imagine the next time we play Scum...or anyone similar.... "it has to stop" says the representative.
Or are they saying you can collectively swear at away fans...?
Its the little things that make supporters fall out of love with the club & the game.

I think it's more in reference to what was going on in the old family area, with people with kids being to told f*ck off and watch someone else if they didn't like the language . I don't read it at all that a bit of. We all Tourette's towards away fans, the ref or opposition keeper is not acceptable

The abuse shouted and directed to 'fellow supporters' and 'club staff' has to stop. For example, an incident has happened in the past week, where a young Oxford fan (under the age of 10) was subjected to a tirade of abuse along with his mother, for trying to reach their seats by a fellow 'Oxford United' fan. Other incidents of unacceptable abuse has also occurred in recent weeks by Oxford fans in the direction of both fellow OUFC fans and/or staff. Don't know in what world, anyone would think this is acceptable? Let alone the Trust view deviating from that.

Sounds like there needs to be a bit more self-policing by fans.
If I heard a couple of Ox fans giving grief to a mum and child trying to get to their seat then I wouldn't ignore it.
