On his day Johnson can be brilliant but unfortunately those days are not as frequent as they should be. Sometimes he just looks disinterested. Wembley (in my opinion ) was a case in point. He is too inconsistent. If he wants a big money move he needs to buck his ideas up and put in more consistent performances. Strangely that also describes maguire, great when happy in preferred position . Not so much when asked to play else where

f*ck him, after Tuesdays performance id take a fiver for him, and I'd want some change, dont believe the hype.. On Tuesday, the whole team were lucky to be conference level. Roofe used to have games when he was ineffective. Would you have in back in a heart beat? I think so. Harry Kane was rubbish in Euro 2016........you know where this is going.

Meanwhile, reports emerged last night Hull City had made a bid for Marvin Johnson. Quite. Which is not the same as "Hull have made an offer". Yes, I suppose the mail are not confident if the sources of the reports.

Radio Oxford said that DE revealed there had been a bid from Hull but it wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

Hull have offered a million quid for Johnson. Anything less than double that, plus a sell on, isn't even worth responding to.

Great player for us. But pretty clear he wants away. Big up the price , let him go and buy a few quality additions to our squad.

SSN reporting he has told PepC he wants to leave Shouldn't he be telling DE No because Daryl said PEP has final decision. He needs to be gone quick if he wants out. The longer we wait the worse effect it'll have on the team, with speculation of Leeds wanting Nelson Johnson could ruin morale and other players may want out.

Sky reporting he has told Pep he wants to leave Good for him. And he can do so just as soon as a club comes up with a suitable offer that Oxford United are happy with. Seeing as he's contracted for another three years if we so wish. Let the games begin.

One guess to work out who 'leaked' this news to Sky. Agents really are the worst thing to happen to football.
£2m plus add ons and a 20% sell on clause, it's a deal (provided at least half of it is reinvested into the squad).

Seeing as he's contracted for another three years if we so wish. Let the games begin. Spot on. He is an OUFC player until the money comes in. And that stays the same if he sits out the next 3 years. (which it won't)

I'm sure he'll be sold by the end of this transfer window for £1.5 - £2 mill.
DE will end up saying, 'he wanted to leave, no option etc'.
It is tough to keep a player once he has handed in a request, and can you blame Johnson when he's likely to see a 300%+ salary increase? What would you do in his situation?
The business plan may be to sell one big player every summer, but as last summer showed it is hard to be so prescriptive.
But again, it is great that we have a number of players other clubs would pay significant fees for. For so long that wasn't the case.

I personally don't think we should sell him or budge on our stance we're sell the player when and if we're ready he's under contract he signed the contract no one else, end of. Time these footballers start to get a grip and clubs start taking a firmer stance with them.

If he wants out let him go but it must be on the clubs terms. I trust DE to get the best deal for OUFC.

Whilst Johnson would be a loss (to any team in this division, not just us) we have the luxury that we have a ready made replacement in Hall, who would also get into pretty much every team in this division.

Yep. Disappointing as he has come nowhere close to fulfilling his potential with us and will definitely leave a year too early - but as others have said, that's modern football and it's hard to query his decision when you look at the sums of money he (and his agent) stand to gain. We benefited from this attitude of his when we got him last year...unfortunately we are now on the receiving end.
Game on for Daryl to get that buy price as far above £2m as possible, and that sell-on percentage generous as well. Hoping he leaves with enough time for us to fund making at least one more serious addition to the squad before the window closes...

MAPP used to say that we have 3-4 players lines up for every position.
Hopefully we have some options for a replacement ...

I said to my Dad that he looks like he's mentally already gone during the Pompey game. Didn't have a terrible game, but could have done more and took the 'safe' option several times.
What's interesting to me is that at one point there were about 30 scouts watching him and the only bid we've received is a p*ss-takingly low one. I don't know how much he's worth. We're in a strong position to negotiate though, which is always a positive.
Time to sit down with Hall, Ruffels etc and offer them new deals in my opinion.

MAPP used to say that we have 3-4 players lines up for every position. Hopefully we have some options for a replacement ... Do we need a replacement? Keep Napa with the first team, training with the likes of Hall and Henry to improve his game giving him 15 minute spells in matches every so often (Similar to what Hall had on Saturday) then up our wage budget and get likes of Ruffles, Hall, Nelson, Ledson and Williamson (eventually) on improved contracts.

IF he wants out , and I'm not convinced, he's being badly advised.
Early signs are that we are going to have a hell of a team. I don't get this 'he's wasting his potential' shtick from some.
He's a fine player. Even though he played like he was mildly inebriated on on Saturday he still won us the game - what a pass that was to Ribeiro.
Six months of tearing up this league - with Clotet guiding his career- will get him a move to the Prem possibly.
He's that good.
MJ's agent's just looking at his 10% as per . Suggest he should be more patient, honour his contract and enhance his value - then him and the club can benefit.

Not a replacement as such, but I think it will leave us light in the wide area for pace. Prem loan while we make offers for Jan maybe. I think the lack of offers compared to scouts watching him is down to most turning up to see this brilliant attacking lb (best in l1). Only to realise that he can't actually defend for toffee

Agree, Eales should sell when the club is ready, in the mean time he should get his head down and play for OUFC, if he under performs it will be detrimental...it's up to him
