My Dad, David, died peacefully on Saturday 29th in Witney. Dad started following the U's late in life, just at the time we were going down the gurgler. He was a pretty stalwart attendee of the SSU through all of those last-minute-goal defeats and depressing relegations. He had to gain cheer from things like the "Jefferson Louis era" and visit to Highbury. He was a member of Oxvox, and for a while was a frequent face in the Oxy pre-match. Dad's health started getting worse just as OUFC's fortunes were turning. His final match - the first in a while - was the 2015 Boxing Day victory over Exeter with his grandson as a mascot. I'll miss many things about Dad of course, but one thing is the phone calls to me in Oz whenever we scored or conceded in any exciting match, especially playoffs and cup matches - usually seconds before I new about it because of the delay on my feed!!!).

I didn't know your dad, but he sounds like a decent sort. He'll be with the other yellows up above now.
RIP David.

Brought a tear to my eye reading your post and I'll bet others. Your Father will have been, no doubt, very proud of you. Memories are precious, yours will be strong and enduring as well. Thank you for telling us about such a splendid chap.

Sorry to hear about this chap I'm sure he was as proud of you as you were of him.
This is another example of how football, for all it's faults, can bring family and friends together.
For those of us lucky enough to still have our parents with us, don't forget to tell them you love them every now and again.

Sorry for your loss mate. It's very difficult when you lose a parent even if you know it's coming. But stay strong and keep talking to him about the yellows and other things you shared. Sounds strange but you will talk to him and you will find comfort from that. Take care buddy we are all feeling your pain and as always the OUFC family is here for you. Chin up mate and RIP to your dad.

Your Dad and my wife, Angie Turner, will continue supporting Oxford United from where they are now. Angie was especially looking forward to the game next Saturday versus Portsmouth - but wasn't able to hang-on for long enough. We always attended home and away when the teams were in the same league.
Cherish those memories of your Dad - especially those with a yellow tinge! Hope his grandson is able to maintain the tradition. RIP.

So very very sorry to hear of your great loss chuckbert.......as you may know, I lost my eldest Son, Andy a few weeks ago....Andy like your Dad and Angie were great supporters. As sussexyellow says, they are probably watching from afar and from a better place. I find the support from our fellow fans on this thread to be so comforting.........R.I.P.
