People are assuming we will play two up top. Leeds didn't, nor Swansea under Pep and Monk. I expect 4-2-3-1 because so far that is what Pep sides play, and it seems pretty widely accepted that tactically he had a huge input into how those teams set up.
This might be the one and only striker signing if we already have Hemmings and Thomas.

I don't think Thomas will make 5 starts next season. Happy with this signing. An upgrade on what we've got. Left footed too, which is handy. I've heard a few people say that Thomas is very highly thought of within the club. If he's fit (big if), I think he'll play a big part this season.

His injury record and the player I saw (except for Bolton away!) leads me to think otherwise. Here is hoping you are right!

A bit of f a downer and n this signing, but he may turn out to be a damn sight better player than he was down the other end of the A420 but is this a Wes Thomas mk 2 signing

Nothing about what you've said there makes sense. What budget on strikers? Who says this isn't the one he wanted? If he IS playing one up top then he now has three players vying for a single spot. I don't know where it was implied that he only had enough money for one striker and that this is it etc. I simply went "If we play one up top, we now have three strikers, so we might not get any more". There was no talk of budgets or restraints.

The only issue I'd have with that is neither Thomas or hemmings looked very good as the lone striker.

There was no talk of budgets or restraints. 'Nothing about what you've said there makes sense'- right ok. 'What budget on strikers?' - Clotet will know how much money he has to spend, and therefore how much room he has to strengthen each position 'Who says this isn't the one he wanted?' - He does. In the interview it confirms that this signing was ready to go under Appleton, but was put on hold due to the managerial limbo. Clotet says he sanctioned the deal as the club had done their research on him. Good stuff, but he credits the recruitment team for identifying him. 'If he IS playing one up top then he now has three players vying for a single spot.' - Yeah 'if', and, as mentioned by Clotet himself, Obika can play a number of roles. 'I simply went "If we play one up top, we now have three strikers, so we might not get any more". There was no talk of budgets or restraints.' - And I simply meant that I doubt Pep would sanction this transfer if that was him done for goalscorers. Hemmings and Thomas both under-performed last season, he will know that. Neither of us know but, just how your view was fair and measured, mine is too. Either could be the case, but I would be very surprised if that is it for our recruitment of strikers. Very.

Pep's remarks about the existing recruitment team having identified Jon would suggest that this is not his signing but one on recommendation. That being the case I think he may well turn out to be a developer. The back room team have been pretty good so far. And, as others have said, it may be that Obika just needs to play with a proper team and get a decent supply.

Having seen his goals, he will make a solid squad player, if the main strikers are injured.

I hope he is not the fall back option for mcaleny and we're still after a goal machine.

Wouldn't be surprised if he plays wide in a 4231 or behind th3 striker in a 4411

Anyone else we could nick off them? f*ck the keeper, they really rate him but I wouldn't even want that clown here even if it was just to p*ss them off He would make a decent ball boy - all that experience of picking the ball up from out the net must count for something. I think Obika looks alright from the videos posted. Bit of skill, engineered a fair few of his goals himself. I think he'll be an asset to the squad.

Wow some great finishes in that goals compilation. tap ins, deft headers, out side the box screamers and audacious flicks. Looks to have good pace and takes up some great positions. Let's hope our back room staff can keep him fit.

As an ardent fan of many, many decades and a former employee i find the antipathy shown towards Obika as an ex Scummer fairly sad and pathetic. He is not a Swindon fan but an ex employee of that club. He is now employed by us and has a decent pedigree. Looks decent and I will fully support him as one of ours and wish him well.

I recall Obika being one of the stand out players in the Yeovil team at the Kassam containing fellow Spurs loanees Ryan Mason and Steven Caulker (we beat 'em 1-0 courtesy of everybody's favourite former tennis coach who we never should have let go: news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/fa_cup/8341131.stm). Obika's career hasn't quite hit the heights of other Spurs academy graduates of his generation but this is a solid 1st signing for Pep at our level. COYY!

Even if he turns out poor its worth it for the reactions of there fans I never bother, but I know some people here like to lurk other clubs' forums- has swindon's given us the amusing toys-out-the-pram top-blowing we were after?

Some don't seem too bothered, more disappointed in him than anything. Whereas some seem a bit more irritated. "Beeks is a f*cking Judas scum c*nt. Hopefully he puts in as much effort for them as he did for us last season. Injured my f*cking arse. Couldn't be f*cking bothered more like. Hope his f*cking career goes to shit f*cking quizzing collaborating c*nt."

If he was a Mapp target that's good enough for me. I frankly couldn't give a toss who his former employees were, he plays for us now and deserves a full welcome and our support. (ps, can I 'like' my own post?)

Hello gents, hope you are all well, it's been a while. Got yourself a good player there, very intelligent, clever, holds the ball up well. I don't think he will ever get you 15+ goals but will certainly help create a few. Only trouble is he is very very injury prone, has missed a fair few games over the last few seasons for us. Interesting appointment with your new manager, very highly rated so will be watching with interest. F@ck Off Scummer, not interested in your opinion or your interest. See you at FGR !!!

(ps, can I 'like' my own post?) Totally agree he said in what I've read of his interview that he'd spoken to MApp But due to MApp leaving he waited to speak to PepC before signing on the dotted line That shows me 2 things (1) He's got his head screwed on (2) PepC could be just the man we need to carry on the goodwork started by MApp

Swindon fans don't seem to care about this one, if their forum is anything to go by.
Not sure what to make of this. Not excited or disappointed. Will be disappointed if he's injured for 2/3 of the year though.

Not as excited as when Mooney joined but I think he'll be a useful addition. MAPP commented last season that we maybe needed a target man as an option (similar to Hanson, Madine etc) Whatever the scum say they were desperate to keep him and are just clutching at straws mentioning his injury record.
Only one negative is his miserable face in the OM photo............cheer up Jon, the years of getting beat and having no decent service are behind you!!!!
