It's all about projects. Who is not out to make some money off the back of OUFC?

It's all about projects. Who is not out to make some money off the back of OUFC? Perhaps we could have a Brighton like owner who wants to get the club to the premier league for their own enjoyment

It doesn't matter if it is Ashton's idea or not, it is Eales money that is currently propping our football club up. Whether he gets the money back or makes a profit or anything else, he has been willing to invest his time and money into this club.
Name me the last chairman willing to do what he has done.

Didn't who all? All our previous owners/chairmen? No one has ever put in the level of funding Darryl has in such a short period of time? He's put in £1m more than lenagan, Kassam put in £15m for stadium. Herd and maxwell spent fortunes. Darryl has achieved success with it, and probably also brought into the club more money from player sales and cup runs. but it's not true that ex chairmen didn't also pump in fortunes. They were all willing to do what he's done, that's why they buy football clubs. So far Kassam has been the only one clever/ruthless enough to come out of it with more than they put in

What amount is that over the 3 years ? 10 million did he not say in the recent AGM? Which is why OUFC are now in debt for over £12 million?

What amount is that over the 3 years ? 10 million did he not say in the recent AGM? So if he sells he will take that £10m off oufc books? Does that £10m include the money owed to ensco that's not been written off ?

Interesting teaser on the ox mail twitter feed, running an interview with Appleton tomorrow, which amoungest other things talks about "why DE deserves so much praise for the way he has lead OUFC" Still Im sure he was told to say nice things and deep down he left due to lack of investment!

I completely get your point but he was still willing to pledge his personal finance into our club. That's more what I'm getting at. He's moved the club a long way in the right direction.

Some interesting thoughts in OP and one or 2 of the replies. As a Watford fan at heart, who followed OUFC for many years as my local team, I viewed the appointment of cAshton with considerable trepidation- his reputation at Vicarage Road was pretty awful!
I've not heard any of the issues from Watford repeated at OUFC so maybe they were one offs and lessons were learned or maybe others were actually pulling the strings back then.
I did have a very interesting conversation with an ex OUFC staff member recently (and I don't think they had any axes to grind) that suggested all was not at all rosy at Grenoble Rd. Will see if I can pick that person's brains again but keep them at arms length from this discussion.

What amount is that over the 3 years ? 10 million did he not say in the recent AGM? That might be what he said at the AGM, but the published accounts doesn't back that up. It's more like £4.5m into the club plus the £4m he paid for the club from IL. Add the £4.25m debt written off and the books show OUFC owing Ensconced around £12.5m

Also weren't Taylor Woodrow owed millions, which Kassam paid 10p in the pound for through a CVA ? Plus he got £8 million for the Manor. Plus he also got the land to build on around the ground, which he developed and subsequently sold. Plus the rent. And don't forget the £1 he got for OUFC !! All talk of putting money in by chairmen from Kassam to the old owners of Headington United are irrelevant because they owned a football club that included bricks and mortar.

Ur missing the point, I've not said Kassam didn't make money out of it, what I was correcting was the assumption that it's only Darryl thats been willing to put his own money in. And if u look at it lenagan had to spend far more at a much lower level to turn the club around without aid of the extra income from player sales or cup runs
Kassam brought us and pumped I'm millions with the aim of making a fortune from development
Darryl brought us and pumped in millions with the aim of making a fortune by getting us to the championship.

Kassam separated the development and stadium off, it was never part of OUFC hence them paying rent and his stadium company keeping revenue streams like food/beer sales. He made £millions while shafting OUFC and he was well in the process of doing that whilst he still owned the club.

So far out of the list of 4, herd and lenagan are the only ones to lose money from buying oufc. Darryl like Kassam could come out of it very profitably, as at present all the money he's pumped in and more ,is still all owed back to him as debt. Now he might right that off as he say would, or he might not.

so let me get this straight two oxvox guys have come on here and aid they have no relationship with the club and suggest that the club is trying to censor the media and forum. fair play to them for speaking out and clearly i was wrong about a cosy relationship between oxvox and eales. if you cant get answers when asking the board direct would oxvox be willing to ask the questions publicly. the board cant be allowed to keep avoiding answering questions about the clubs direction and plans for the future. also since sales admits he cant get a ground deal done can he explain what happens now as he said it was vital that an agreement was made by may. its all a complete mess.

This is not quite correct 'Steve'. Although formal meetings with the club have been at a less than ideal frequency over the last year, direct contact with DE has always been maintained. As you'd expect, keeping lines of communication open, even in trickier times, is important and OxVox have made sure that this is the case - as we do with all other key stakeholders. Cheers Jem
