Hi all
Just a quick note of thanks to everyone who managed to battle through the grid locked Headington traffic last night to attend the 15th OxVox AGM! We thought it was a great turnout for what proved to be a really good evening, with plenty of lively debate!
Have to say, we are a tad disappointed with the way in which The Oxford Mail have misreported some of the information provided, but hey, ho, that's the way it goes sometimes!
We'll be sending minutes to members by Tuesday night at the latest.
Thanks again for your support. It's very much appreciated by all on your Committee.
Cheers
Jem

I would just like to say to the Committee a big thanks for all of the work that you are clearly putting in.
Regarding the ground issues it must seem like a job on top of the jobs that you have (and for the love of OUFC).
There may be a couple on here that like to have a pop but I am sure that the majority are grateful for the efforts that you put in.

Yes, thanks to the Committee and others who work so hard for the good of the supporters.
I am sure the vast majority of people, both members and non-members, who have bothered to actually look into the various issues you are tackling greatly appreciate your efforts.

Despite the never ending whining from some I can assure you most of us fully support the work OxVox put in and we realise it's in very trying circumstances.
Up the U's!

Hang on, let's not go overboard with the praise.
I agree the mini pork pies were excellent but someone could have cut the crusts off the sandwiches!

How were the biscuits? 🙂 Pahh I've given up on getting biscuits at any organisation associated with Oxford Utd. There was quite an impressive fruit selection though. These OxVox boys know how to live.

So what was misreported as I wasn't there to judge for myself ?

So what was misreported as I wasn't there to judge for myself ? Well for a start nobody there mentioned that if there was a renegotiation of the license that it would go up in order to allow the club to have control of the revenue. That was never said. What was said was that it would be on much improved terms for the club.

If rent is 500k with zero catering profit, but 550k with 100k catering profit then both could be true? So one person says licence fee goes up, other says improved terms.

So one person says licence fee goes up, other says improved terms. If you took a cynical view.. Or a view that defies all logic. Why would you go to all the effort of negotiating a new deal and then settle for saving 50k a year and no other benefits? I think you can assume if a deal is done it will be one that the party negotiating (possibly Sartori at the moment?) will be happy with. If Kassam is getting planning concessions then i'd be fairly confident that either DE, OxVox with SD's help (with i'm sure the blessing of DE) or Sartori would be smart enough to make it a deal worth doing. The Mail report reads to me that the extra revenue the club would gain from the ground would be offset with extra charges. No extra charges were mentioned at the AGM.

I am speculating on what I heard at the AGM. I can say they never mentioned a raise in license fee as reported in the Mail so i'm not sure where they got that? As for the minutes I haven't got mine yet but I imagine OxVox may post them here.

Please let me know if you haven't received the updates email, which includes links to the AGM Minutes/Notes, Performance Report and Annual Accounts. It's worth checking the spam folder just in case! Please direct/private message me with an email address if you're still having difficulties and we'll re-send! cheers Jem

Hi Mermaid! It's worth copying in the link to the performance report too. The minutes/notes make more sense when read in conjunction with the performance report. It also covers may more of the 'other' activities over the last year! Cheers Jem

All the huffing and puffing about a mis-quote in the Ox fail, put what was really said not a peep out of anyone. I suppose there is the distraction of 2 players leaving the club today that might shift the thought process away from who's owning the ground or club..

It seems certain people would rather go off on one regarding what they thought was said, rather than what actually WAS said.

Jem - I couldn't make the AGM due to work commitments but I wonder if a third option should be put to the membership re stadium discussions. The two proposed are to either continue or walk away, how about a third option which is to continue but against an agreed plan with key dates/outputs to be achieved i.e. milestones which if not met prompt an urgent review of whether to continue/walk away. Some of these milestones should be in the short term so that we can assess the validity of the talks. I just feel that there needs to be some measurement in the negotiations against which progress can be tracked to monitor chances of success and dare I say it hold the parties to account.

Really good points, totally agree with you and the 'survey' will not be a simple 'in or out' type of Brexit thingy! We will try to give context and a forward plan/time line We hope to have it ready by the end of June. Cheers Jem
