I can't see anything more than a draw at best to be honest. The draw would suit Scunthorpe and I think they will have a go early doors then frustrate us. 0-0

Expecting a performance more on par with earlier in the season, eg a lot better than of late. Back on the hell holed turf and Mapp will make the players understand that anyone with thoughts on Wembley could be in for a rude awakening. So an improved performance and a narrow win to the U's is my prediction. U's 2 S**n*horpe 1.

Only once has Appleton been in charge when we lost three home games in a row (his first season), so I would hope we can get at least a point. That said, Scunny have a good away record and we have a poor home one, so I'm not at all confident about this one.

Who was the guy a few years ago that replied to every matchday thread on here with 'Must Win Game!'?
Regardless, I think this game is getting close to being one of those as far as our playoff ambitions go.
With Millwall and Bradford playing well, Scunny might be our best bet of the current playoff sides to overhaul. But if we don't win tomorrow, we'll be 12 points (at least) behind them with 9 to go, and a tough fixture list.
And I think we probably will win - players need a good performance to cement a Wembley spot, and Scunny have been pretty poor on the whole for the last couple of months......

Have a great feeling that we are going to win two home games in four days. Six points to make us feel like dreaming again. 2-1 tomorrow and 1-0 on Tuesday evening

A dull 0-0 draw. Players blaming the pitch.

Bloody hard one, this! (that's what Eve apparently thought when she first saw Adam). United 2 (Hemmings and Dunkley) Scunthorpe 3 (sorry) Att: 7309 with 656 away fans. If I'm wrong, I'm a t*at. But my crystal ball says: "Oh dear". I can see the scoreboard malfunctioning, with sparks and flashes coming out the sides. Bad weather will blow a bloody great big airship over the ground (oh, the humility). Dunkley's goal will come from a bullet header. As he runs to the corner flag to kick it, he will miss and catch Sercombe in the bollocks. A Scunny fan will bring a bloody drum to the game. A great big Great Dane-type dog will run onto the pitch and bite their number 10. Someone will have a banner with 'Let England be independent from Scotland' on it. Surprising no-one's thought of that, tbh. Just before the scoreboard explodes, Donald Trump's face will appear on it, with the slogan 'This is fake U's' up there. Yes, Mr Trump! That's just about it for me.

We will win 4-0, MApp will make a comment about building for next season/still aiming for the play offs/players will need to be managed carefully with all the games coming up. These comments will get twisted that MApp is unhappy/board lacked ambition in the summer/MApp doesn't have faith in the board. There will then be a 7 page thread on said twisted theories so the miserable posters can deflect away from their unhappiness of us actually playing well and winning.
That or we will lose 1 nil.

Could be the end of our promotion challenge, but we can win this and still get there. It will take a monumental effort now, but if anyone can, then this group of players have shown that they have the cojones to make things happen. 1-0 to keep the pot boiling.

2-1 win, Hemmings and Maguire. Will be a crap crowd. 7k Ox and 355 Scunthorpe. All the talk will be about Wembley and the stalls outside will be filled with the cheap merchandise that goes with it.
Charlie will post on Saturday night about how he chatted with Scunthorpe's directors and come to the conclusion that our squad has lost value. People who disagree with him will be called deluded.
But the big question is....
Will we see Amersham Dave's dog at long last!?

Going into this game totally relaxed...More or less safe from relegation, I personally don't want us to get in playoffs, let the management team get things sorted for next season and go for it I think if we went up this year we'll struggle next year

Can't see us getting anything out of today. Poor at home and our lads are dead on their feet. Hope we can get something as would like a top ten finish and some confidence ahead of Wembley.

Such a shame about fixture congestion this year, without it we might be in a better position to challenge.
Would be nice to just cement 8-10th place this year, think we will grab a draw today 1-1.

Is their manager serving his touchline ban today? I saw he got done for foul and abusive by the FA the other day.
I'm interested to see what team MAPP puts out today...

I can't believe some think we're anywhere near ready for Championship football and are clinging on the very slender chance we might somehow sneak in to the play offs. If that minor miracle occurred we'd be hot favourites to return pdq to Div: one. I really think we need at least another season to continue to develop further as a Club. Plus there's the small matter of stadium ownership, and all the twists and turns that no doubt will occur.

Surely losing the play off final after an unbeaten last few weeks would be the perfect scenario? Hard to take but probably best not to go up, but loads of extra income and publicity...
Today, 2-1 to the mighty Yellows.

Don't you get like 7 or 9 million for being in the Championship though? So if there's no point in going up as we would definitely come straight back down couldn't we just go up, not increase the budget, come back down but then use the money to make 2-4 amazing signings and really grow a team?!
Success is always good. Let's aim as high as we can, not worry about doing too much too soon.

Really rung the changes then. I feel like maybe he should have made a couple of changes last game rather than none then this, but we shall see...
Bit harsh on Johnson maybe, but a good sub to come on and what a bench!

Strange starting 11. No width at all.
Guess the tactics are to keep it tight and nick a goal

I think the thinking here is fresh legs and tap into the fustrations and desire for the bench to break into the first 11. Lets see if they have it in them!

I'd have preferred more 'tinkering' in previous games, especially in our last outing, as opposed to wholesale changes - but what do I know. I think this reflects Mapps willingness to take a risk at this point, considering our position. I hope it pays off.

Afternoon all. Big change in the line up today, but in MAPP we trust to get it right as the home results must get better if we are to progress further. Bound to be some subs made but lets make them sooner rather than later.
COME ON YOU YELLOWS
