Our old defender, Paul McCarthy, who played 35 times between 2003-04 has died suddenly at the age of 45.
RIP.

A good player and formed a bit of a partnership with Crosby and Waterman. I remember him scoring a late header against Kidderminster at home in horrendous windy conditions (a bit of the south stand blew off delaying the game).
Didn't he captain Hornchurch when they were briefly a moneybags side as well?
Thoughts are with his family.

A very calm and comfortable on the ball defender.
Such very sad news.
Rip Paul.

The fact he only played one season for us, and won't be known to many on here, doesn't lessen the tragedy. Such a young age for someone that you'd assume would have spent most of his life being very fit.

I was shocked at how few games he played, I thought he was here longer. Very sad news and thoughts to all his family.
RIP Paul
