OUFCLive: 87 A third shout for handball as O'Dowda's cross is palmed behind. Corner given. 0-3
Sounds like handball to me

Whing and Neweys distribution was atrocious. At the game, there have been some positives, but general passing quality has not been good.

Shame about the Result, beaten by a better team by the sound of it.

So be it. A big reality check, but it shows everyone we are a League 2 club for a reason. Keep it happy for Saturday. We were never going up on Saturday and we aren't going down today.

No charlton made quite a few changes from Saturday, virtually reserve team.

Very dissapointed to go out with such a whimper. Strange we didnt play our best 11 against a championship team. Im pretty sure lenagan wont have viewed this as a meaningless match with the potential $ available from a cup run.

Looking like good results for Bury, newport and Cheltenham, with daggers and Plymouth putting in good performances, from league 2.

Meh, doesn't really matter, Although it's disappointing to get thrashed, anyone believing this will have some kind of profound impact on our season needs to stop panicking IMO. There are forty odd games for the squad to show whether there good enough or not. Saturday is the real test now.

Oh well 3 pen claims not given maybe we'll get one on Saturday First one was a deffo penalty - the other two were really wishful thinking. The first one also highlighted that we have another Beano on our books. Newey got a yellow for giving the ref too much lip. Hall played like a geriatric carthorse. A definite weak link. Quite impressed by Williams got a few good crosses in but missed a sitter (shades of alfie). Didn't see too much of COD in the first half but made a couple of good runs in the 2nd. Not impressed by Rose or Beano either.

Just back.
I am angry. Angry that we bottled it with the team selection. I don't want to do any finger pointing solely at WIlder for tonight - but we could've done them tonight if we'd have stuck with Saturday's team, and gone for a win. I didn't feel we were mentally on it tonight.
I do agree with other posts that tonight will not of course define our season - but we had nearly 800 fans there, and our team performance was pretty woeful.
I've seen worse by us in the past - and I do like the feel our back four for most of the first half. Yes we let in four goals, but for me, that was more to do with Hall and Rose being less than ineffectual - rather than a shabby defence. With the midfield being so weak, there was so much traffic going at our goal that the goals were always going to go in.
I really hope WIlder gets everything going again on Saturday, and we get a win against Bury.

went to the game tonight. Atmos for a start was a total contrast to fratton park on saturday. charlton deserved it but they also had a lot of luck with at least 2 of their goals, and the free kick should not have found its way in. by then the game had slipped away and they were a pretty classy outfit so kept the ball well. Williams was good with the ball at his feet but left us exposed with some poor passing. o dowda did well, possibly could have been a bit more direct, but a solid debut. the rest weren't that bad, they huffed and puffed, struggled in possession at times but still managed to create a few chances (hall struggled a bit to be fair but had a tough ask supporting JC in an advanced midfield role). the subs did well, rigg, potter and smalley all looked sharp and caused problems. Dont think its worth reading too much into this result. roll on saturday!!

re my last post - Bit wound up last night (that's part of why we go isn't it?!).
The morning after I feel it only right to give more positivity about last night.
O'Dowda looked promising to me - not afraid to keep trying to turn his man, and cause problems.
Williams showed promise too - great speed, and looked for the ball all of the time. Yes there were a few off touches, but I thought he played well given the nature of the night.
And when Deano and Alfie came on they really fired things up, were chasing down, and were a threat. Deano looks sharp as.
Clarke made some good stops.
Come on you Yellows for Saturday!!!

Glad we're out of that shitty cup. Just as rubbish as the JPP. Bring on Saturday. Our only major trophy... Yeh, but it was called the Milk Cup then. Has a much more attractive ring to it. Thank goodness it wasn't sponsored by the Egg Marketing Board when we won it.

O'Dowda and Williams both impressed me. Both young and not afraid to challenge defenders, both are quite quick and have a good touch. O'Dowda especially has the intent for good control and pulls it off.
Saying that, the introduction of Potter reinvigorated us, he came on and we instantly looked a better team. He was unlucky not to grab a goal by the end.
Penalties, some were debatable and one was pretty obvious, but at the end of the day we performed admirably for the first half against a team some 45 places above us in the pyramid.
Move onto Bury and the league, and keep our promotion intent as the main plan for the season
