Jobsworth stewards. "You're in the home end" when there was only a handful of us and one or two Alloa fans. . Stood behind the goal. No videos or pictures unless you have a press pass. Cheap food though.

There are some positives to take from the game.
We didn't lose. Deane Smalley scores again. Think we came through the game without injuries.
I must be one of the only posters who has always stood by Smalley, and i still think he has a lot to offer on the field of battle. I know he hit the ground running last year in pre season, but if he can remain fully fit, then he could well score us a lot of goals this season. I have no doubt about that what so ever.

So, depends on who he plays against Brechin, but I'd say that is a pretty good indication of his thinking about his Plan A for next season - definite first choice back four, keeper and wide two, Whing gets the nod over Davies to partner Rose, with the only surprise being Smalley ahead of Beano. Meades, Beano & Davies given a chance to challenge & COD seems to be in his thinking too, with a look at the unplayed outfield subs not really a surprise either - woudln't expect to see too much of those three in the first XI next season.
Personally I would have given all 22 at least 60-70 mins each on the tour, starting with two separate XIs, with a mix of 1st choice and backup players and just a few subs late on where necessary, but each to his own. Given that he has started such a strong XI in this first game, it will be interesting to see what he does in the second game - will he set out his stall and go with the same again, will it just be a couple of changes along the lines of his substitutions, or will he turn it around completely and start with other XI? Either way I wouldn't read too much into seeing Clarke start/play 90 mins again as he needs the match fitness more than Max who has been with NZ over the summer.
Given Matt Heath's Wiki page suggests he's never played more than 30 games in a season (for the same club) then I would suggest that his/another injury could, maybe should, be enough to say goodbye. That is not the indifferent reliability level we are lookign for this season, particularly from one who would be considered an experienced squad member - sorry!

Starting 11 for today!
Clarke Hunt Raynes Wright Newey Davies Hall Meades O'Dowda Kitson Constable
Judging by the Oxford mail, interesting to see the partnership of Kits & Beano, also good to see O'Dowda get a start.
