Strange how everyone sees the game differently isnt it. I thought right up until he scored, that Beano was the worst of the three strikers. Still brilliant that we have strikers at the club who can score goals from nothing. Thought Batt was the man of the match tonight, was skinning his opponent all night. Sometimes as Oxford fans i think we always want to award the accolade to the guys who keep it simple like Mclaren/Clist/Payne but we shouldn't be afraid to praise real flair and pace when it happens, and i thought thats exactly what Batt did. I thought the same about Beano. His first touch let him down on a number of occasions, he tried to go past players and it didn't work for him. He worked his socks off (as always) but it didn't seem to be happening for him. He mentioned in the RadOx interview after the game that he was still feeling the effects of his illness. As you say he still managed to score 2 goals. I guess that his standards have been so high that if he has an off game (according to some) it's noticeable. He was still effective in the end though. I disagree with that. Beano did work his socks off but thats exactly what he hasn't always done this season. Early season he looked restrained, as if CW had tried to harness him a bit but last night he was a real handful and looked to be enjoying himself. Forget the goals last night, I thought his movement was great and he rarely got caught offside which shows he's learning because that was a real problem in his game early season. As for the goals, they were two clinical finishes.

I think the strong competition for his place has done him the world of good.

shows how strong the team performance is when we can all dispute who was man of the match! many a time recently, we would have struggled to find one! long may it continue!

Not disputing the bits he did well, movement etc, but if you watch the video for his goal that someone has posted on here you'll see what I mean about his first touch. He tries a pass to Craddock that doesn't come off. The ball balloons off a defender and he finished brilliantly, but I felt that first half especially things he tried didn't come off. As for not getting caught offside. The way we are playing at the moment means we are playing through teams rather than hitting it long. He's taking up the same kind of positions as before, but now the ball isn't being played forward as quickly from the back, so he's not getting caught offside.

But you could pick faults in the games of everyone of our players, we are a L2 team. The need by people on here to hold Constable up to a far higher standard than the rest of the team is strange but I suppose you could put it down to the build em up to knock em down tendacy some people have.

I wasn't criticising Beano. Just pointing out that I didn't think he had his best game on Tuesday. Some were making him man of the match and saying it was his best game of the season. I was giving a different opinion.

I thought Beano was superb . Apart from his 2 goals he was in the face of the defenders all night. They did'nt have a moments peace, and had to go into panic stations with thier passing.
