So Eric you miss what the Olympics is about. Murray is representing Team GB. You wouldn't want someone representing OUFC to lose would you?

No Eric, he is representing you whether you like it or not, at least assuming you are a British citizen.
Would you want OUFC to lose because you had an irrational hatred of certain of their players?

He does NOT represent me, Gunman. I don't like him, I hope he loses, that has nothing to do with hypothetical parallels with OUFC.

You might not like him but since you are, i assume, a British citizen he is representing you even if you don't want him to. As for the OUFC parallel I think its fairly valid. If there was a player or players donning the yellow jersey you didn't like would you want them to play poorly and get injured every match? Of course not. You'd get over it because you want the team to do as well as possible. The same is the case with Murray and GB surely, unless of course you aren't backing Team GB in which case, fair enough.

I'm not really one for patriotism when it comes to sport, but I like Murray. He's got a bit of a personality, even if it is grumpy, and he's a class above your usual British 'lovable loser'. Not really following the olympics so I don't even know when the match is being played, but I do really hope he wins.

I can understand someone disliking a sportsman. But Murray is representing Team GB and I hope he gets both golds he is contesting on behalf of our great britain. And I've never booed someone wearing an OUFC shirt, although some around me have. Anyone representing our team (this olympics it's team GB) and that includes Morgan last season for the yellows has my total support. I feel very passionate about this.

He in no way represents me. I'm fairly ambivalent about the Olympics, and "Team GB" as it happens. I get interested when England are in something, because I'm English, rather than British. But when it comes to Murray, I'll cheer on whoever he's playing against.

Eric, I'm making a hypothetical comparison, not accusing you of any OUFC related misdemeanours, so don't come the put upon poster being menaced by the big bad keyboard warrior, Gunman, because that's not what's going on at all is it. As I said above, if you aren't keen on Team GB and feel more English than British then fair enough. The point I was trying to make was that, like him or not, Murray is part of Team GB and if you want that team to do the best you can then supporting Murray is part and parcel of that and reason enough IMO, to put aside your own thoughts on the bloke. But if you aren't really bothered then you're entitled to keep your negative view of him firmly at the front of your thoughts, as irrational as it might seem to some.

So just to complete the analogy if Andy Murray had missed the penalty that Sturridge did and Team GB had been knocked out as they were, Eric, would be happy. Hmmmm.

I was indifferent about the GB football tonight, so your analogy does not really work. But if you insist, I would still have been indifferent, and would still have disliked Murray. And what is it with you people? I do not like Murray, stop trying to imagine ridiculous situations where (you think) I would be forced to like him. Trust me, I wouldn't.

I don't like Murray and get quite a bit of stick from people for it but I don't care. Some of my friends are so up his arse I'm surprised they can't see daylight from the amount of arse licking they do on Twitter.
But the point being made is if you didn't like Constable or Batt, would you still support them in the pursuit of Oxford winning?

The Morgan analogy doesnt work as he was f*cking shit and the only way for us to do well was off loading the arsehole, which thankfully we have.
Not a massive Murray fan but quite enjoyed watching him having to play with Robson who is a bit hopeless, funny having him have to pretend she has been unlucky/is playing well when she messes up badly. Mixed doubles tennis is really just a way of handicapping the male player.
