If he was due to be released next week anyway it seems a bit harsh to be now ordered to serve 100 hours community service. Thats how I see it. Personally i'd rather do the extra 7 days than the community service.

Glad he's getting out soon, it has been a complete judicial farce. Pity somebody has to suffer so much. I still feel that a 3 year ban is over the top though.

I wonder what we will be saying about the latest "victim" when they get banned/jailed etc? Always interesting to trawl the dusty corners of websites and old post history.

www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/crackdown-use-flares-football-matches-5744642Saw this on the Bristol Rovers forum as it seems they've had some issues of their own in recent times. It's a report concerning Villa v Wigan last season which saw smoke bombs hospitalise a child. That is what these toxic devices can do - they are fundamentally not designed to be used in crowded and occasionally enclosed environments such as stands and terraces. They can make people seriously, seriously ill. Hopefully the culprit who was caught smuggling smoke grenades into P'boro was the main offender, or will at least have convinced anyone else who might fancy it in the future that the risk simply isn't worth it.

I was at Boston v York today.
York fans let off a smoke bomb when the teams came out, and another after their goal. Stewards took no interest in either.

My view is that if having a smoke bomb is illegal in a stadium and you take one into a stadium, it's your own fault when you are prosecuted. The club consistently requested that people don't take them in, so if you do you deserve to be banned.

You know, it's a funny thing you know We'll tell 'em if you like, we'll tell 'em all tonight They'll never listen because their minds are made up And of course it's all OK to carry on that way
