I know it sounds boring but The Oxford Stadium or shorten it to the "The Oxford". Most of the famous stadiums or one word..
Anfield Highbury Old Trafford

I know it sounds boring but The Oxford Stadium or shorten it to the "The Oxford". Most of the famous stadiums or one word.. Anfield Highbury Old Trafford But with all of those if you knew nothing about Football you would not link those names to the club you would have to do a bit of thinking/investigation first. That is why it has to be "The Isis" and the Egyptians were around long before the bloody University. I bet this outpost from the University would have a bit to say about that name though especially as they have the initials of the scum in their web address : www.isis.stfc.ac.uk/index.html

If and when we do get to own the stadium, I imagine it will named along the lines of the sponsors wishes;
Could be the Mini stadium perhaps?
if we do get the chance to name it
Along the Ox theme..
Bull Ring
'The Pen' along the lines of Millwalls take on their nickname Lions - Den / New Den
The Stamping Hoof ;D ;D
The River Thames Theme
Something using Isis works well, as we all know it is a term for the Thames used only within Oxford, but it is linked to the University rowing movement, not necessarily from the people of Oxford.

You can't really mix Priory and Manor in one name It like calling something the bungalow cottage, or castle monastry etc.

Can't we just leave "manor" in the past? whatever the new name is, it will become become as significant a name as the manor was.
If we had built the new stadium on the site of the Manor then fine, but its a completely new ground.

Totally agree Amarillo, forward thinking the way forward, we need to create history, not obsessing over the past.

I like grounds that have the name of the Road in it, none of this stadium or arean bollox.
And for that reason I would go with Grenoble Road

The poll on the other thread is heading us towards...
Priory Park, Grenoble Road, The New Manor or The Isis.
I don't have a problem with any of those although The New Manor is my least favoured. Grenoble Road is also a little non descript in terms of building a legacy and aura.

Plain and simple nothing else. "Grenoble Road" and if I won 120MM on the Euros, buy the club/stadium I would build the East stand with a supporters club with a full glass frontage so for the few can watch the game if wanted Then I would fill all the corners in and then in yellow seats do the following: West stand OUFC with the OX heand in the middle. West stand again in Yellow seats "London Road" East stand (away end) "Cuckoo Ln" South Lower/upper "OUFC" Should look pretty impressive and improve the acoustics! Then convert the already present boxes to convertable Hotel rooms which would be changed for Match days ala West Ham Just to p*ss off the Holiday Inn Finish off the Stadium decor etc ... Do somthing with the catering.... Do more but that would do for starters...and have the club self finance itself...

It has to be Grenoble road surely. Its the only realistic choice. Definately wouldnt want it called anything with 'isis' in it, the further away we get from those toffee nosed tw#ts at the university the better.

I think we should call the stadium Daisy.

Given that I am from two nothing towns - born in Rochdale, grew up in Kendal, it wouldn't really bother me. My point is that Isis is a name used by the University, by the rowing club no less, and we're considering adopting it for the football stadium, home of a club who aren't supported by the students and whose fans are looked down on by (some of) the students.

Decent Oxford people have a respect for what the university has done for the city and likewise decent Oxford students respect the fact that there is more to the city than the uni. Those who don't - on both sides - are the tw#ts in my opinion.
"Isis" is used by the university, but so is the word "Oxford" Should we drop that from our name?

depends whether your original outburst was just a bit of town v gown banter or genuine animosity
No its not, but as someone who has lived here most of my life I appreciate that it is part of what made our city great.
Snobbery works both ways you know

Bit of inverse snobbery there Mr Gunman. The majority of students do not look down on the locals, the club or anything else about the city. In the same way that many locals don't have a problem working with and for the University. I'm proud to come from such a beautiful city. Isis is not a University word. They choose to use it just like they choose to be Oxford University. Perhaps we should just call the club Ted?

depends whether your original outburst was just a bit of town v gown banter or genuine animosity whats an alma mater? I'd hardly call it an outburst, and i'll take this opportunity to say it was banter really. Still wouldn't want isis in the name mind, I think it sounds a bit pretentious and imples a link with the university which does not really exist. I don't think you can have any affinity with Oxford without being proud that there is such an influential institution at the heart of the city. One's alma mater is basically the university or institution you went to, usually where you got your first degree from. I take it you aren't a university man since, if you were, you would know all about your alma mater as, about 2 years after you leave it incessantly contacts you asking for donations! ('alma mater' = 'nourishing mother' in latin.)

The Isis. The local yocals called the Thames Isis long before there was a university. Isis really is an old Oxford word.

What about "Shotton Stadium" after Malcolm Shotton, wasn't he an oxford legend? Not old enough to remember him but didn't he score some wonderbolts? Are you Dutch?

Grenoble Road or Minchery Farm. Just call it what it is, it doesn't need an 'identity' tacked onto it, it will gain one over time as it becomes more like 'home'.

Not sure why 'Isis' is so popular. As far as I am aware the word Isis has never been used by or been in connection with OUFC, so why do people want to use it all of a sudden?
Why try and use a new word as part of our identity? We already have Manor which will always be connected with OUFC, so if you want to use something use something we already have. e.g. The New Manor, Manor Stadium etc. Not sure the need to start using something new.
I still prefer "Grenoble Road", but if that wasnt used, I would much rather something with Manor rather than Isis.

When the ground was first called the Manor, the club had no connection to the word 'Manor'
I think isis is beautiful, fits ours originas and our city, and works nicely.
