I’m that sad that my first thought was: “Good that we got those three points in the bag before the risk of the game being called off”.

Could fit n-ice-ly into the squad. I assume he would never need an ice pack when injured.

Having driven from paddington to murcott via every available village (4.5 hours), then on to kidlington, and seeing countless stranded vehicles including buses and coaches en route, I don't think I would regard the closing of Bicester village pathetic.

Trains were running there all day from London, Oxford, Thame, Wycombe etc every half an hour. Also people who live in and around Bicester planning on going there for Christmas shopping could get there easy. There were a lot (i.e. loads) of people looking of Chinese origin very miffed and disappointed at Marylebone earlier. I spoke to a few. I do find it pathetic.

I can assure you that as a resident of Bicester we don't shop at Bicester Village. We go to Primark.

four and a half hours getting from Hemel to Amersham Sunday morning, via the M25, which wasnt even gritted... ...and the amount of people who have no idea how to drive in the snow always amazes me - as does the fact that a large number of modern cars appear able to replicate that "one sniff of snow and the back wheels overtake the front ones" that only Capris used to be able to achieve

Anybody using winter tyres on their car? Not sure if they would even work well on such poorly cleared roads. I highly recommend studded tyres - but it seems they are not road legal in UK!

Anybody using winter tyres on their car? Not sure if they would even work well on such poorly cleared roads. I highly recommend studded tyres - but it seems they are not road legal in UK! Even on unclear roads they are a significant improvement, and also perform better at temperatures below 6°. You have to have them on in Germany by law (actually strictly speaking you don't, you have to have "suitable tyres for the conditions" but everyone does it). The problem is you could have 99 people out of a hundred driving properly on the right tyres, but when car 100 drives like a prick and demolishes the central reservation the road is closed anyway. Mate of mine living in Germany had winter tyres on his car and drove back to England for Christmas a few years ago. There was ice and snow on a slight incline leading to his house and he said it was great weaving through stranded 4x4s, lorries and police cars without any problems.
